What did you do TO / WITH / FOR your bike today!

What did they sting you for that? They weren't cheap last time I saw them, and they were hard to even get.

1k with the ($900) extender, ($80) cable and ($20) retention strap…

The weekend was the first time I’ve seen them advertised on the website but the strap and cable weren’t available so I gave the LBS a yell and they’re getting one across for me, but being a battery they need to road freight it

Still about the same then. At least you can get them now.
I saw that Specialized had a special offer just recently where they were throwing in a free range extender with a new bike.

I thought range wasn't anything to get anxious about... :)
Well, it isn't really, but if you want to pedal further, with assistance, you might want a bigger battery. As far as being anxious that you are going to get stuck somewhere, no, it's not a problem, you just ride without assistance like any other bike.
I forgot to charge mine the other day after over 100km of commuting to work and realised during the ride that the battery wasn't going to last the whole ride. I just kept going on the ride I had planned and rode the last half unassisted when the battery ran out. No anxiety needed ;)

My knees are somehow a lot older than me, so I need the extra assistance!

So these Talas 32s in super condition went for $90 on FB marketplace and friend snarfed them up for me. Note to self: Stop buying old stuff.

Anyhow, gave them an overhaul today. All good but couldn't get them to compress 100% in order to fit one of the lower leg bolts. Haven't had that before and there must be a bit of lockout still dialed in.

After a ponder, I put a rag on the other leg and turned the stand into the wall to get a bit more leverage. Worked well. A bit more fiddling to be done.

Correct amount of oil ? I bought a broken set of Reba's for $50 as they only got 50mm of the 100mm supposed travel and he told me they were never used since last service.

The oil spill was nearly EPA reportable.
I think the compression side was a bit low on oil in this case but it was still a nice shade of Fox green. Not as much oil dumped out as I expected.
Just have to make sure that the lockout is fully off and it should be fine. I've never used a lockout ever.

Many forks seemed to suffer the lack of advertised travel aliment regardless who made them. I still remember being totally in awe of my shiny new Quadra 5s with their real world 50mm or so of travel which was a 15mm short of what it said on the box. Maybe a bit more after some oil or grease on a warm day. :D Elastomer Manitou were a much better fork but you just can't avoid that elastomers don't like to compress too much.
