What did you do TO / WITH / FOR your bike today!

Fitted Tubolight inserts to the hardtail and went for a gentle ride on mostly flat bike paths, legs a bit sore from doing a couple of off road rides this week after a long hiatus. Weather was too good not to get out.
Pumped the tyres up to seating pressure and rode around a bit, went to let them down a bit and the inserts must have an air tight seal on the sidewalls, no pressure at the valves 😳 it can't be sealant blocking them, I don't put it in through the valves. Weird, but the inserts seem to be quite good, they weigh bugger all and aren't terribly hard to fit. Will test the rim protection abilities when I get some riding fitness happening

Today's totally unnecessary eeb mods... Mon's bikepath trail-slayer, got forked. Had a bitsa DVO fork that I put together from 2 old forks, too clapped to sell so thought I'd make use of it here. Lowered it to 130, gave it a quick Burnish... fark, It's pretty plush, and should make for a nicer ride compared to the entry level xc SrSuntour it came with.

I rode it!
Winning!

I too, rode my bike. Nothing epic. It was nice to be out.
I got swooped by a magpie. It was a half hearted attempt. On the return journey I used my jacket to protect my ears and neck and looked quite the sight. It worked, the magpie saw I was mad and left me alone, it followed me from tree to tree until I was out of their zone.

It was probably scared you were going to stick it in the lunch box compartment.

I went for a ride at the local.

Came across old matey, who according to him was apparently doing a community service. He was real old... I'd say a pensioner.

I had a word with him about building a jump over that fricken tree... to a corner, or maybe even a berm.

He just looked at me, with those I don't give a flying fuck what you youngies think eyes, and cleared the track anyway.

Ha ha … the red talking

Trees! Who'd have them! 🤣
Went and did an assessment of the Iron Tor trail on Saturday and we've got some work to do to open it again. :(

Sunday was spent clearing trees off the Penguin MTB Park trails while we wait for Parks approval to tackle the Iron Tor ones.

Would you believe we took all that out with a Bunnings pole saw and a small battery chain saw?

After months of procrastination and neglect, the notMarino v3 (aka RM Altitude) is up and running properly. Still need to do some tweaking with cockpit setup and suspension, but she rides pretty nice. Big thanks to Stredda(s) and team for clearing the trails, huge amount of work.

Swapped out the usual Assegai/DHR2 combo for DHR2/Rekon (for faster rolling) and almost immediately binned it on the first corner as the front lost traction instead of hooking up. That was eye-opening.

Fitted some THICC wheels to the roadie, and tried to get some hills into the legs.

50mm carbon rims certainly cut the air well and the DT240s roll nicely, but the uneven buzz of the star ratchet is weird. Much prefer the click of Hopes or buzz from I9s.

Interested to hear how you find them in cross-winds and such if you can report back after a bit of time to get a feel for them...

I'm sure I will hate them in cross winds, but I've got a bazillion mountain bikes for windy days.
