Folks we are gathered here today to say farewell to our beloved @Jabubu as we knew him. Being of course the lovable earnest and enthusiastic but tine poor excuse finder we have come to hold dear to our hearts. But this should not be a sad time as he has not left us for good, but like the beautiful and majestic moth we all knew was meant to be...booboo has transitioned from his larvae state into a gravel rider. And while many of us will look at this with contempt and wonder "what happened to those plans to race enduro and hit the send button a bit more?" we can all find peace in the knowledge that he is at least riding a bicycle and has not become a raw vegan roadie yet.

It’s been a very long while , but it was a nicer day so its “time”
And I popped some higher bars on my fatty , upgraded the path bike and might even charge the ‘ol electric beasty ‘
Watch Out Summer is coming !
only thing is the 10 klms is roolly roollly far after only dog walking for 6 months haha

The absolute farthest you can get from @Jabubu's gravel bike.

That is by far the most beautiful and heartfelt thing anyone has said about me on this forum.

I think I'll ride my mountain bike as a tribute to such eloquence.

Lots of offages lately, seems I never get a chance to post anything. I went to Nannup last weekend to a collect the Hallion who'd been staying at his friend's place for school holidays and finally got a chance to visit the famed Tank 7 area. No bike for me but I shuttled the Hallion and his mate at Tank 7 as that's the only one you can drive into.
They'd been there during the week and done multiple runs down the blue trail called Easy tiger and things were going well. Towards the end of the session Hallions mate decided to try rolling the black Flylacine, he made it to the bottom ok but didn't hit any of the big jumps. Then right at the end of the day the Hallion decided he would have a go as well. It didn't end so well for him ...
Theres, a hip jump half way down and he'd run out of brave pills as he came up to it so hit the brakes as he rolled up to the lip, but not quite made it onto the top part of the feature where there's a flat section then did some sort of slow speed back wheel endo off it onto his head. He's ok but it was new helmet day for him.

I actually rode the bloody things! Took 2 weeks off around my bday with a view to riding as much as possible the first week. That didn't really happen how I planned it cause I'm so bloody unfit but I've ridden 20km over 3 days which I'm pretty happy with, considering I've not been offroad in 6 months (and only 2 rides since then).

I wanted to keep riding but didn't want to wear myself out to the point of putting myself in danger.

Took the 6 to Daisy and struggled badly with the hills.

Rode the manik to the local pumptrack (never been to one before) but chickened out watching all the 20 year old foetuses who knew what they were doing and didn't want to kick the 3 year old off the green line so i could have a go

Took the manik to Nerang and rode Goanna and the new Casuarina loop. Really enjoyed it, struggled badly up the climbs but managed to ride most of it. The dh half of the new loop is awesome, even if I keep both wheels on the ground and can't jump for shit... will definitely be back.

Probably no more riding cause the missus is off too now, but I really want to get back on the bike more regularly again.

Helmet did its job real good.
Yeah, he was pretty upset about it but I've been reminding him better the helmet broke than your head or neck, and as much as you do my head in you're irreplaceable 😄
I've seen an action replay now as his mate was waiting for him, it didn't look too bad but hard enough. His mate keeps asking if he can send it to Friday fails or fail army.
On the plus side, the shock that I did a quick rebuild on the week earlier is still working and hasn't stuck down yet.

Since becoming a dad my tinkering days have diminished, as has the tinkering budget, so this little recent burst of activity was pretty exciting.

Replaced:
ten yr old fox 32 factory with a 2023 34 perf elite on the Sherpa. It's amazing how much stouter it feels already and the extra 30mm travel is a big bonus.

Wheelset upgraded to wider boost set

Here's how it played out:
1. Buy secondhand Roval wheelset, same spec as what's currently on my stumpy but in mullet.
2. Mullet set goes onto the stumpy, along with the mullet linkage.
3. Sherpa boost dropouts (which have been gathering dust since getting the frame in 2017) finally get bolted on to Sherpa, and the 29er set gets moved onto the Sherpa.

Dumdum here didn't even think to check rotor compatibility with the new fork though. Need to grab a 180mm shortly.

(After pic still shows the old rear wheel..)
