Fuck I’m sore this morning. First off was a simple slide out in soft gravel hitting a corner too fast.

Second was brutal; just started a descent and didn’t see a hefty log to the side of the trail and it caught the right side pedal and stopped me dead. Well the bike stopped dead, I managed to absorb some of it but still did a graceful cartwheel over the handlebars. Surprised no damage done to bike or body considering.

Anyway, was good to get 20km into the legs and catch up with boys after 12 months MIA.

Been aaaages since I posted in here, mainly as life is really getting in the way at the minute.
I am still getting out for a ride every couple of weeks though, which is keeping me (almost) sane.

One notable thing that happened to my bike is it fell off the back of my car at 100km/h...
I was out at Kalamunda, got chatting when we got back to the car and went for a coffee.
After coffee, started heading home and was on the highway heard a massive clunk before sticking on the hazards and pulling off the side of the road
Got out, bike was only attached to the rack by the front wheel being hooked into the arm that holds the front wheel in the cradle - luckily it was still attached to the car and didn't cause a crash!
Dumbass here had forgotten to strap the tyre into the rear cradle and it had bounced out, taking the bike with it.
Looking over the bike, the only issue was the bars were twisted and there were a few scrapes on the rear tyre where it had bounced/dragged down the road
Another look when I got home confirmed nothing broken and outside of the above and some rubber from the grip left on the back of the car, I got off very lightly.
It's been ridden since to drag @ashes_mtb round for a couple of hours with no dramas (well, for me anyway), thank Jeebus

Yep, lucky for sure.

Timely for me to ask the question then... what's everyone's view of the choice between the two main types of racks?

Which do you prefer ... frame holder bike racks or the tyre holder bike racks that hold the bike by the wheels?

I still like the one that holds the wheels, provided I use the tyre strap...

And thanks for sharing that story on the our ride. Got paranoid on my way home and had to pull over on Roe Hwy to check mine.

I did exactly this a few weeks ago. When I picked myself up off the ground I had a little chuckle as I seemed to have got off scot-free (and I did thankfully).

Haha nah, an XC bike.
 
Raced last night - new forks felt great (went from 140mm to 150mm). Whilst the Z1's and the Fox 36 Rhythms are sort of meant to be the 'same' the Z1's feel nicer out of the box (might also just me the extra 10mm). Fixed a couple of issues I had with the Spectral 125. Also good in that I wasn't crook or recovering from being crook like the previous 6 weeks. Now to get a bit more fitness to enjoy the rides a little more.

Also got some more parts to build up the lads 'new' bike. Will endeavor to do a PYR at some point.
 
I guess it’s just as well I ordered a new crankset as the spare has shat itself too… 😢

I have traded a few emails with Flo from BikeYoke support who was very helpful about solving the blue lower bushing issue. They have sent out a free replacement lower bushing and pretty much the whole service kit for the Divine. It arrived yesterday via NS Dynamics.

I really cannot fault the support from BikeYoke. They have went above and beyond.

Awesome! Now rebuild and remember to drop the post when descending ;)
 
Got a bit of shed time and the Divine is back to normal. The new lower bushing sorted it all out.

Kudos again to BikeYoke for their help. If you can service forks then you have the skillset to service a BikeYoke dropper.

Seat goes up, seat goes down, seat goes up, seat goes down..........
