Hopefully the police will feel motivated to checkWhat a shit thing to have happen. I wonder if there are any businesses or houses in the area with CCTV.
Yeah I waited until a bit after 7:30pm yesterday 'til it had cooled off, it had dropped to 33degC by then. And hot as well!
I thought it was hot at 30c!Yeah I waited until a bit after 7:30pm yesterday 'til it had cooled off, it had dropped to 33degC by then.
That’s the thing. No one gives a fuck. Road users, cops. I’m actually too scared shitless to ride on the road. I did a gravel ride with a friend last week. We had to start and finish it in Footscray where he lives and then at the brewery for post ride drinks, inner west of Melbourne basically. I was terrified every second we were on a road and couldn’t wait to get off. Spending every second waiting for injury or death is something I can do without.Police could not have been less interested. "yeah thats why i dont ride bikes" was the assessment of the one taking my statement.
Maybe the allocated officer who may or may not call me in a week or two will care more? I doubt it.
That's when you ask their views on dealing with 'aggravated assault' and 'assault with a deadly weapon' cases...and wondering out loud about whether the ombudsman might be interested in such views as they relate to cyclists.Police could not have been less interested. I am friends with a member of a certain political party who has provided advice on writing to members with a “what are you going to do about providing safe roads?”, and via a Facebook post on the bicycle Tasmania network group I’m having coffee at his invitation with a Hobart council councillor, who will benefit from some ideas on what needs to be done to counter the fucked culture down here. That's when you ask their views on dealing with 'aggravated assault' and 'assault with a deadly weapon' cases...and wondering out loud about whether the ombudsman might be interested in such views as they relate to cyclists.
And police wonder why so many people aren't interested in helping them out and being useful to their work.
It’s getting worse for sure. I miss my commute along burley Griffen dam.I like commuting here in Canberra, but 19 of the 20km on my route is on completely separated paths often not even running near roads. And the bulk of the rest of it is in my suburb.
I used ride a singlespeed aggressively in Sydney traffic every day of the week a couple of decades back. I avoid the road almost completely now.
Cyclists were never popular in traffic, and I get the resentment to a (limited) point. But it feels a bit nastier now than then.
Have that opinion, whatever, but do your job!Police could not have been less interested. "yeah thats why i dont ride bikes" was the assessment of the one taking my statement.

Yes, have a traffic crash number.@Haakon make sure you get a crash report number too if they didn't give you one already. These should be looked at separately from general crime reports.

Accident Records - Tasmania Police
Traffic Crash Reports are administered within Accident Records, Tasmania Police. Information Services liaise with operational pwww.police.tas.gov.au
If the report you made today wasn't a crash report, then go to a station that has a highway patrol unit to make the report directly with them if that's possible. You'll get a much better investigation from highway patrol for this type of thing.

If you think that they don't care now, wait till you have a bike stolen.Yes, have a traffic crash number.
Let’s see what response I get from the actual investigating officers. Probably shouldn’t judge too much from the bloke on the counter taking my complaint.
