The Hobart Soho trails were super steep and powdery, but great fun.![]()
Yeah, they were plenty blown out!Rode the SoHo trails that were used for the gravity enduro last night. I've never seen that much moon dust there before!
You go faster that way as you are always going down hill.Looks like you are running a reverse mullet![]()
Not to be a dickhead about this, but are you confident that wheel is laced correctly?I finished my rear wheel.View attachment 415360
Looks like a 2x spoke pattern. Not to be a dickhead about this, but are you confident that wheel is laced correctly?
I just see a couple of worrying spoke combos going on there?
I really hope to be proved wrong, but want you to be safe.
I realise it's probably 2 cross, but it doesn't look right to me. Could just be the angle of the picture?Looks like a 2x spoke pattern.

No not confident it's the first wheel I've built. Not to be a dickhead about this, but are you confident that wheel is laced correctly?

If you can, maybe swing by your LBS and get them to take a Quick Look. They will tell you if it’s correct or not.No not confident it's the first wheel I've built.
Go the Epic! I honestly think mtb are better suited to most fire roads around Perth.Looked at it again
Last time I got out for a proper ride was the end of Jan, although I took the kids out in Feb. Been a busy few weeks.
Need to get out and clear my head though, a lot of stuff buzzing round in there but I doubt it'll be this weekend
Also toying with flogging my roadie and getting a groadie instead and hitting the railway trails, but have seen a 2021 Epic Evo Comp on Facebook for cheap I'm thinking of picking up - although unsure if there's any point when I've got my Honzo gathering dust.
With the Shotgun on the eeb, there's decent scope to get that out instead and start getting a bit fitter.
It's an asymmetric rim if that helps. I've been out on a ride on it for 30 minutes through a light rock garden just your normal XC trail and it held up so far so we will see what happens.Tension on spokes is ok what I started with. This is what you don't want to happen, becasue of incorrect lacing... I'll be fixing this up onto a new rim tomorrow.

I have a old Mavic wheelset with straight pull hub which I had next to my new wheel build for checking the spoke pattern when lacing my new wheelIf you can, maybe swing by your LBS and get them to take a Quick Look. They will tell you if it’s correct or not.
It’s even more important to get it right on a straight pull hub, as the spokes usually do NOT go “under/over”, which means there is less strength tension along the line of the spoke.
Looks like that bloke grabed the straight pull spoke with vice grips to stop ithe spoke spinning emm. The rim didn't break at the spoke eyelet which makes me wonder what he hit to do that damageThis is what you don't want to happen, becasue of incorrect lacing... I'll be fixing this up onto a new rim tomorrow.
