What did you do TO / WITH / FOR your bike today!

I finished my rear wheel.

Looked at it again

Last time I got out for a proper ride was the end of Jan, although I took the kids out in Feb. Been a busy few weeks.
Need to get out and clear my head though, a lot of stuff buzzing round in there but I doubt it'll be this weekend

Also toying with flogging my roadie and getting a groadie instead and hitting the railway trails, but have seen a 2021 Epic Evo Comp on Facebook for cheap I'm thinking of picking up - although unsure if there's any point when I've got my Honzo gathering dust.
With the Shotgun on the eeb, there's decent scope to get that out instead and start getting a bit fitter.

Not to be a dickhead about this, but are you confident that wheel is laced correctly?
I just see a couple of worrying spoke combos going on there?
I really hope to be proved wrong, but want you to be safe.
Looks like a 2x spoke pattern.

I realise it's probably 2 cross, but it doesn't look right to me. Could just be the angle of the picture?

I only mention it, becasue we had a customer in the shop today, with a carbon Roval XC wheel, that he built himself and laced it up wrong. This was onto a DT 350 straight pull hub.

It lasted 20mins of XC and destroyed itself. I now have the new rim and will build it up topmorrow. It failed because of the incorrect lacing. Don't want it to happen to anyone else. But like I say, I'm not the only wheel builder on this forum and if Bigdamo knows what he's doing, that's cool with me.

No not confident it's the first wheel I've built.
If you can, maybe swing by your LBS and get them to take a Quick Look. They will tell you if it’s correct or not.

It’s even more important to get it right on a straight pull hub, as the spokes usually do NOT go “under/over”, which means there is less strength tension along the line of the spoke.

Go the Epic! I honestly think mtb are better suited to most fire roads around Perth.

I have a old Mavic wheelset with straight pull hub which I had next to my new wheel build for checking the spoke pattern when lacing my new wheel
