What did you do TO / WITH / FOR your bike today!

Looks like the usual peak snow season at any Australian ski field...but this year they had some snow.
Snow! That shits cold! No thanks.
Do I get a prize or a court order?

You metadata stealing bastard! Yes. It is indeed the start hut of the current World Cup track at Andorra. I’ll pop a few photos up later. I’ve got tapas and cerveza to drink now!

So I’m on family holiday in Spain and being in Barcelona a 3 hour bus trip to the 5th best ranked bike park in the world was a no brainer.
Being the home of Commencal I tried to rent one but they only have large. No problem they said it’ll fit. Yeah nah I don’t think so.
So found a pretty speccy V10 which was fucking awesome. Instantly made me a 47% better rider. Pity I’ll go back to be being shit when I hand it back! First two runs were sketchy as I’d forgotten to ask them to switch the brakes. Finally found someone with a multi tool to flip them over. It’s pretty amazing how quick your brain can switch though. Panic braking might have been a different
I had expected Andorra from YT vids to be super dry and sketchy but the mountain had seen a bit of rain so was grippy as hell. Except in the lower Forrest. Mossy, sloppy, with sniper roots and slippy rock.
I’d done a few blue runs to warm up, then a couple of reds and the idea was to do a Pink bike videographer style ride down the WC track but it was closed as they were working on another trail just below a road gap. So I had to content myself with the OG 2019 track.
Holy shit. To say I was shitting myself was an understatement. Steeeeep, blown out and off camber on the upper bit. Then it dropped into a section along side a trail called ‘wet tube’ and it lived up to its name. Champéry style steep with wet roots and rocks. Gnarly doesn’t even begin to describe it. Fucking awesome. Seriously had to grow a pair as trying to walk down that shit was more dangerous than rolling it.
Found a few sneaky pirate lines through the lower forests I’d seen Fairclough and friends do.
Next day the current WC track was open! Yes!! Did a run down avoiding all the big stuff, some drops and jumps were actually pretty straight forward if you weren’t trying to send it 50feet into a berm. The rock gardens were pretty hairy but doable with the pink paint still advising what to avoid and a steep section at the bottom had me on the brakes but managed to ride the whole thing. Can’t say the same about the OG track. Much technical walking was done on that. One of the hardest tracks I’ve ever ridden besides a particularly steep cliffside track in Switzerland. That takes the cake.
It’s really wild to ride down a WC track and see just how good the pros are to ride this shit at breakneck speed.
Also eating breaky at my hotel and who walks in but Gracy and Tohuto.
Had lunch and a beer at the commencal head office/shop at the bottom of the mountain. Was pretty rad. Kept expecting Amaury Pieron to serve me a beer but alas I didn’t see him.
So yeah, Andorra was unreal. Incredible trail building with trail maintenance dudes everywhere touching stuff up. Huge variety of fast flow to super tech as scary as you’d want it.
Ended up doing about 8k descending over the 1.5 days I had there so was an awesome side trip. Taking a gondola and two chairlifts and bombing top to bottom is wild. My hands are fucked now though. Claws.
A few random photos as I’m shit at taking photos when I’m frothing to ride.

Hope you didn't call him that .. I cringe everytime farking Carlson says it in the commentary
Oops. Yeah I know how it’s pronounced. Just can’t spell. I cringe when Carlson says anything actually… “goolies”. FFS

Local trail closed (for a good while methinks.....) following last week's Sydney downpour, so headed across the road to hit the fire trails in the regional park; mental magpie has moved in and assumed control of the main trail, assaulting all and sundry with impunity. Headed elsewhere, to be harassed by 3 more maggies, one of whom hit me about 5 times, no claret though. Still a cracking day to be out on two wheels with last week's gear issues well and truly relegated to past tense.
