What did you do TO / WITH / FOR your bike today!

My old hardtail only ever sees gravel trails these days so I installed some skinny gravel tyres on it. Looks a bit weird but seems to roll a lot faster now.

Got out yesterday with the boys and the wife's old man for 12.5km around Kalamunda, with Mr 6 on his trusty Roxter and Mr 4 on the shotgun seat.
Both kids enjoyed, it got us out which they've been pestering me for.
I can tell I haven't ridden offroad in 6 months, not in any sort of shape at the minute (although stress and meds mean I'm not putting any kgs on thankfully).
Need to find some time to get out for myself now, which I think I'll struggle with for the foreseeable

Bought some second hand but never used 29er tyres yesterday from MP. Guy I bought them from must've been a chain smoker. Tyres utterly stink of tobacco. Even carrying them through the house last night has stunk the house out. Left them out on the patio and as soon as you walk outside you can smell them.. Have to scrub them with some detergent or something.

Dropped the lad off at basketball training that is conveniently close to some trails. Took the HT out for a 60min spin. Enjoyed the new set up on the HT but pissed myself off as I still struggle on 'proper' climbs - whilst I've been doing a few gravel Km's to 'train' for the Gravelista even next weekend (that I'm woefully underprepared for) it's not the same fitness as MTB riding.

I know what you mean mate. After many weeks of not doing much (rain, injury, work, life!) I am dreading my lack of climbing fitness this weekend of riding down in Narooma.

It's annoying as it has been my weakness for a while but earlier this year I was really seeing improvements and (shock horror) I was actually enjoying some of the technical climbs.

But still stoked to be getting out on the horse ; no better feeling (and thank God there's a shuttle 😂 )

I used to come for Agfest ... May , horizontal rain , gale force icey winds ..and Tawegians in shorts, singlets and thongs . ' its alright , you soft or sum thing '
And yes , I'm wearing my shorts in the morning walking the dogs ...its quite nice at about 10 deg !

Got a ride in after work. During the ride as I was riding up the access road a little kid (10 or 11yr old) rides through the scrub off Cressy Descent and asked if I can help his friend who is just up Cressy a little bit and his wheel has come off.

I recognised the kid from earlier with his 2 friends and 3 dads all of whom are nowhere to be seen. My thoughts as I walked up Cressy Descent went immediately to Admiral Ackbar (IYKYK), but the kid was telling the truth and his mate did indeed have a mechanical.

He had pretty much got his rear wheel back on (QR skewered 24in Polygon hardtail), but he had missed routing his chain over the cassette so the derailleur was floppy. Sorted that out for him and continued up the access rd.

Weather was spectacular.
