I recognised the kid from earlier with his 2 friends and 3 dads all of whom are nowhere to be seen. My thoughts as I walked up Cressy Descent went immediately to Admiral Ackbar (IYKYK), but the kid was telling the truth and his mate did indeed have a mechanical.

He had pretty much got his rear wheel back on (QR skewered 24in Polygon hardtail), but he had missed routing his chain over the cassette so the derailleur was floppy. Sorted that out for him and continued up the access rd.

Weather was spectacular.

The farmers plan Agfest for that very reason. If you want to break a drought, just hold a big outdoor event.

Lap at the local. Great ride and trail in top nick but 'Operation Make Barren and Decrease Shade' is gathering momentum, with the section pictured having just been decimated despite appearing to be seemingly unproblematic for the last 15 years. Granted I'm no botanist so it may well be to rid the area of invasive species (African Olive having wreaked havoc for many years in the Gardens), just makes things a tad warmer on what can already be a gratuitously hurty track at times!

I was thinking about it but the cost to join Auscycling $244 a year( when are they going to give a pensioner discout? and then event entry it's not worth the 3-4 events I'd do a year. Plus my age 64 there ain't no classes for my age group. I'd be in with the gun 55 year olds and there aren't many in that class.
 
Rode from Blacbutt , to Esk.
I've ridded the BVRT 3 times before, but in a fuckwit moment rode to Yarraman for 10km down the ranges before me & my Mates realized the mistake.
With the 9.30am start, the extra 20km in 35+ heat = 97.5km to Esk.
Expensive night at Esk, my shout all night !
The next morning ride to Wulkuraka was tedious.

The guy that won C grade was in his 60's ;)
He smoked me😆
State Champs do have a Grand Masters category which is for over 60s.
Yeah having to need a licence does suck when you aren't planning on doing a lot of races.

You'll have to come up and do the Iron Torathon. No licence required and you can ride as much and as little as you want! I also want someone on and Ebike to give it a proper crack. I'd be interested to see how many laps of Iron Tor would be possible on an Ebike in a day.

interesting. I thought about it when I rode it last month? I thought the battery would run out pretty fast and I would get 3 laps in maybe 4 that's in turbo.

Need a second battery or bring a generator with you and charge between laps. 😅
