What did you do TO / WITH / FOR your bike today!

Has been a while for me too. No good reason, I just haven't been feeling to energetic lately but that has to stop.

A lazy CoD will do fine.

Finally got a chance to get the Appleman built this morning, after the last few bits arrived in the shop yesterday.
A bit of a mixed bag of parts, mostly new, apart from the forks, bars and stem, which officially came off a bike I rode about a dozen times.
Quck run down to the park and back to check it's all Tickerty Boo...it's probably a touch too big for me to be honest, but thought it was worth a punt. Look out for it's 'FOR SALE' post in the next couple of days....

Mmmmm Moooooots.

My gateway Lynskey turned into my forever Lynskey. So I never got to taste the sweet Moots (or Merlin) twang.

The Merlin was an original Tom Kellog/Rob Vandermark. I saved for nearly two years to buy that thing. It was the first of my true custom builds. I had the engraved PAULS rasta mechs, The Crosstop brakes (that were shite), TNT cranks, CD ceramic coated Mavic rims...the whole nine yards. Kept and rode that bad boy for many years.

I then got a really hard on for Moots and had about eight of them over the years, including the double dodgy 'Cinco'. Easily the best Ti bikes ever made, until Kent sold out and staryted on his own, taking Brad Bingham with him to Erikssen. Brad has been building "bingham built" for a few years now and thiose things are off the charts beautiful.

Lynskey make a nice bike, don't get me wrong and I'd buy one any day of the week, but Moots and Bingham are different level...and that's why you pay. But not any more. They are drug money prices now! Lynskey is the way to go these days.

Got a lap of Iron Tor in yesterday to top of a solid week. Got rained on on the way back down and all the way home. I was planning on sitting back to watch Hardline but they had the same rain as we did in the north so that ruined that idea too.
I did finally beat @Ackland on the Rotorburn Strava leaderboard, so that's a win I will take. 😂

So the universe has dealt me a couple of hefty sucker punches lately which even though I know it’s the best medicine has made finding motivation for riding hard to find. So.
Day off today. So I forced myself to ride. Took many hours of mental persuasion and internal dialogue but finally got my shit together and got to the trails by 1pm.

Big dump last night so it’s greasy but pretty good and only getting better with the sun now shining.

Last bit of the first run I go over the bars. Land on my feet all good but notice Ive somehow yanked my brake hose out of the lever. Fuck. The rear brake. That’s the end of that I think. No spanner to try to tighten the barb up and certainly no trailside bleed kit so just jam it back in to see what happens.
Fuck me. It’s working just fine. I wrap some sparky tape on my cables for emergencies so grab that and I wrapped it all around the hose entry. Seems fine. Did a little brake test down the fire road so Fuck it. Just sent it. My thought was it will either cure me or kill me today.
Did a bunch more laps with no issues. Had a ball.

Thank you universe for not kicking me in the nuts again today.

Photo of the bodged up lever, little bit of oil escaped but it didn’t pop back out!
