What did you do TO / WITH / FOR your bike today!

Had a Birdsland ride on Saturday and then a lap of Lysty yesterday.

The trail fairies had done a lot of work on Middle Trail, which was all good stuff, except for modifying an existing jump. You had to jump it before as it probably wasn’t rollable, I don’t know I’ve always jumped it… but they made it much bigger, with a bigger landing down ramp, but it now has a deep gap in between. When we came through there was a woman down, with another woman giving assistance. She’d had a major otb on the new jump, and while it seemed nothing was broken, she was really sore and shaken. They weren’t novice riders either, both being on serious bikes and wearing all the gear. They said to keep going but to let the guy who was riding with them know what was going on, which we did.

Middle Trail is not a downhill trail, it has an endless stream of riders of all capabilities. I just don’t get why a jump with an actual gap has to be there. Just fill the gap in so it is rollable, and those can jump it can and those that can’t won’t end up all broken.

or at the very least a sign on the approach. ridden comm games since the revamp? I'd been off the bike for a while and hadn't been including comm games in my getting back into it phase, I go belting down comm games at night on the freshly reworked track thinking "fuck this is now a footpath, how crap". clearing a double at speed at night unexpectedly is a pucker up moment. why doubles need to feature on XC tracks is silly. Fill the middle in for the novices.

I hadn't riden the re worked bit either. While i really enjoyed it and appreciate the work, it's all very otbsy for the newbies. So many opportunities to faceplant when hooking down, i was just a surprised compared to what it was.

Can't comment on the jump on middle track but comm games is easily rollable if you are that way inclined. Maybe don't pin it down a revamped track for the first time at night.

Seems to me a 'Trail Conditions Have Changed' sign before the relevant feature wouldn't be too much to ask for.

Gave the Sight a good wash and re-lube, and re-tublessed the back tyre after yesterday's embarrassing incident.

Fitted up the WTB Volt which i bought from an awesome rotorburner on here... My arse has never felt so satisfied!

And put 16km on the new slayer. Hot damn for a 165/170mm bike this thing pedals so damn well!

Fitted my ODI Elite Pro grips and 32T chainring. When I swapped rings my shifting was out the window so took the bike to the LBS and they said the reason was that my derailleur hanger was bent. Gears shifted perfectly with the bent hangar before the front ring swap, so was interesting that the change in front ring highlighted the bent hangar issue.

I've had my bike for over a year and done about 1,200km, so was pleasantly surprised to see the state of the spindle when I pulled the crank off.

Ride at lunch today to see how the grips go and how much of a difference the 32t ring makes.

What are you changing from on the front? I'm going to be swapping from a 28t to a 32/34t on the front of a 1x11. Hopefully it's not too much of an increase and I can still go upwards without too much effort. :thumb:

Went from a 34t to a 32t. 34 was OK, but after an hour or so of riding hills my legs were toast.

Those grips look good bt! Let me know what they're like after a few good rides.

Took the slayer up to the local today to give it a bit of a shakedown. I dialed the X2 in to the recommended fox settings and haven't looked back. Got the right amount of pop, super supple, and soaks the big hits with ease. I probably need to drop 10psi out of it though, not getting anywhere near full travel.

And damn I forget what it's like to be able to carry a bottle in the frame, been a few years. Such freedom!!

Great looking bike... definitely considering one. Very jealous.

Very nice indeed, I wish they were a few thousand dollars cheaper.:eek:hwell:

I was kinda bummed about the price I paid for the frame set, not much less than retail, but it was literally the last one in the country until the end of the year when the '18 models start landing..

Just waiting on bloody wheels, hopefully tomorrow! I feel you on the drink bottle thing. Have been dealing with a underside downtube bottle on my Riot for the last couple of years. Looking forward to having a clean bottle again!
