Yeah nah. I've already got all the paraphanalia for standard nipples and I'm morally opposed to paying 4x as much for a nipple with pro lock. God I hate pro lock.

I normally buy the 14mm brass nipples, a lot easier than to deal with 12mm. The Unior Spoke Key 3.3mm (wing nut type) works well on the dt swiss nipples I've found and you can always throw a tyre & tube on for the last bit of tension and deflate it to check the tension.
I've got the Park spoke keys, so same same. Although I've also got the Dt Swiss multi key and its actually a handy piece of kit.

I'll remember that trick.

My wife and daughter are going to ride the Warburton trail this weekend for the first time so I spent a bit of time scrubbing drivetrains on their rigs this arvo. It will certainly be the furthest either have ridden and it was all mum’s idea so good on em. Everything’s spinning perfectly now so no excuses.

Awesome weekend doing shuttles at Bright.
Weather couldn't have been any better.

Got more used to World Cup and Mystic. Gave Graveyard a go with a few spills. Great fun!

What body protection did you wear? I'm looking into doing a trip and wondering if anything beyond arm and knee pads is necessary. I'll be taking my Met Parachute.

Built a set or #endurobro wheels - Dt ex511 and ex471 laced to Hope Pro2 Evos with 2m Dt comps. Almost ended up in the fuckwits thread with a lace threading error. Changing the spoke pattern to suit the disc or the drive side is hard. Somehow lost some nipple shims which I'm sure will make themselves known on the first ride. Having a nipple driver bit and a drill are very luxurious.

Also started the build for a #ichoselightandstrong wheelset with Nextie asymmetric enduro and dh rims laced to I9 torch hubs. Should be a full 400 grams lighter than the Dt/Hope wheels.

#endurobro wheels came in at 960gms for the front and 1060gms for the rear, sans tape and valves.

Sick, I have scored the lend of a go pro 3 for my trip to Bright, no doubt I'll donate some skin and or blood to the hillsides of Bright, all caught on camera.
Awesome! Hope you have a blast. One thing I would recommend is running at least Double Down / Super Gravity tyres on the rear as the second section of Hero is pretty rough. Got two flats there on EXO, no issues with DD/SG. Mind you my line choice is average haha.

Had proper fullface, IXS elbow pads and Dainese Trail Skins knee pads. Packed armour but didn't end up using it. Worth taking goggles too.
Most of the terrain in the top sections is quite forgiving to stack on. I didn't have any marks on my body, just shins and inner thigh from seat hitting it.
Although I wasn't going particularly fast so also depends how hard you want to go

I'd have thought the top section of Bright would be the worst section to stack on, especially Hero. But really, you probably don't want to stack anywhere lol. I'm probably a bit stupid and only ride with helmet/gloves but I'm the idiot who pedals up to Hero before going down . I'd run knee pads at a minimum if you're doing Hero and any of the black stuff. Mystic DH etc is really steep, rocky and unforgiving. Most of Hero, apart from the jump line up top rides like a fast blue.

Either way, Bright is a magical place, it's so good.

Yeah the rocky sections definitely (especially the high speed rocky bits on hero), but Graveyard is 90% soft dirt and the forest sections of WC and Mystic are nicer for stacks

I have scars on my knees from the all mountain/elevation trail.. No knee pads was a pretty stupid move..
I reckon a full face is a wise move for hero as well. I imagined going otb on one of the kicker jumps and grinding my face to cheese on the shale rocks..

Uh oh, I'm only running a nobby nic and a hans dampf, maybe I'll just ride the carpark
