What did you do TO / WITH / FOR your bike today!

for you I would....but for a mate like Nick I wouldnt.....

He'd only charge me 120% inflation rather than 200% ;)

Just took the 1x10 with shadow+ and NW ring for a ride and I'm loving it. Chain didn't budge, all I got was a bit of slap on some of the really rocky stuff which could have been prevented if we shortened the chain! Hint, hint Norm :p

Still tossing up whether the 150mm RS Revelation RLs would be overkill on my Trance...

Right pedal has been making a clicking sound for a while, finally got around to pulling it apart for a grease up. Bugger I thought it had sealed bearings (like my old DMR V12 Mags)! Well it said something to that effect when I purchased them...(NC17 STD Zero Pro), I guess it depends how you defined sealed. .....sealed ball bearings doh
Oh well as a result I lost at least one of the minute ball bearings when I pulled the pedal off the axle (well I found one after it was all back together)

I think I want to replace them with something like DMR V12 Mags. When I had them a few years back, they were awesome, easier to pull apart for a grease and clean and put back together too. Oh well know to read the description properly next time,

Serviced the m475 hubs on the hardtail, what a bitch. I'm feeling your pain Pebble, 1 1/2 hours to do the work, 4 hours crawling around on the floor with a magnet looking for front hub bearings. Looks like this will be the last time they are serviced, cups looking pretty shabby. Hopefully the 3kg of grease in each race will get them through till new year.

Any one got recommendations for cheapish, reliable QR 6 bolt hubs to replace them with?

I have them too - love these pedals. For the last 10years I had standard V12's - never had to pull them apart or grease, and they now serve duty on my wife's XC bike.

Do you know - recently I found you can get V12 Mag Titanium pedals. How can I justify to myself getting a pair of them???

You don't need to justify, you are the 1% :first:
If you really need justifying, consider the wellgo version in magnesium with titanium axles for a fraction of the price.....
Wish they made the classic v12 in a thinner profile...which wouldn't make them a classic v12, I realise.

this isnt exactly good, but my car was tailgated by a cadbury truck. the pros: got some chocolate and exchanged numbers. cons: now needing to buy a new dirt jumper because of it. the bike rack was on the tow ball. i had my downhill bike on it at the same time but it was behind the dj, the dh bike was a 2010 giant glory and luckily only sustained snapped bars and derailuer hanger, but the norco havoc was crushed. even worse, i was taking the dirt jumper to the guy whom just bought it.

ha ha I'm just wondering if I need to justify going the V12 Mag over the regular V12. Hmmm 100g is a 100g...well even if I ignore the fact that my carbon hardtrail came stock with a Dart. Oh well. No way in hell I could justify Ti axles but!
I did notice the vaults but not keen on spending that much really, I'd be inclined to look at Answer Rove FR or maybe some of the Nukeproof models as well if I was after that style. I do like the thin profile looking pedals but I'm not riding much off road these days so I might just stick with the old trusty ones that I know did the job.

I'm taking the bike to the LBS for it's first service this week, so I'll get them to price up a set of DMR V12 Mags I think, then break the bad news to Hubby...we won't tell him I found one of the bearings after I put the pedal back together :) Well it was my birthday recently and Mum sent $50 so it's not like household budget will be out that much.....if he complains I'll just buy less food mwahaha.

The other V12 Mags I had for about 5yrs, I only serviced them once (basically clean and grease) when they started making noise or something. After the service they were good as new (well functionally not cosmetically). They lasted through a few different bikes and didn't look bad with a new "chrome" paint job either, before finally I sold them with one of my old bikes.

Not keen on the Wellgo's? Lighter than a v12 mag for 40-50 bucks. I'm 120 kg and never broken a set.

+1 for the Wellgo MG-1's..... Have had them on my hardtail for a while now (including newby days with a few more than average pedal strikes) and apart from a bit off paint loss in contact area's they are still silky as new. 42 bucks to your door on ebay..... come in at around 380g from memory. And they're also quite grippy given I wear old (as in holes old) Nike freeruns with them.

Cheers.

I do love my $20 MG1s, but.....

...recently picked up a set of Nukeproof cromo Protons for $50 on sale @CRC stupidly light, stupidly grippy and stupidly sexy. Weighed them on the balance at work and were only 6.39 grams over the claimed weight. Give ace pedal rash on the back of the calves too.

V12 Mags are just $88 on CRC. Not expensive I don't think. Pretty sure that's what mine cost.

One of my mates has bent and twisted the platform of the Vaults in under a year and he's a very smooth rider. I prefer the jetblack superlights. Also my Wellgo v12 copy's have been awesome, not the grippiest and quite a thick profile but I'm very pleased with them.

I say go for it! I'm doing the exact thing with mine, and reviews on the internet say that the extra travel will make it heaps more forgiving but will also slacken out the HA to smash the downhill sections!
