What did you do TO / WITH / FOR your bike today!

I reckon put proper mtb tyres on it for when you hate yourself and ride it on the same trails you take the intense on.

You’ll finish the ride with rhe biggest shit eating grin and won’t hate yourself anymore. Promise
Probably the cheapest way to do it. Means I don't have to buy new tyres. Will look into the tensioner job for SS. But I've also got a Wolftooth do-hicky that lets me run a Shimano 11spd MTB derailleur with road shifters. Buuut if I went full gravel I should probably just buy a gravel bike.

Alright, MTB bars and tyres. Just gotta decide if I do gears or not...

Was in the ACT for a work meeting. It finished at 2 so rode Majura for the first time by myself half hungover and full of meat from Brazilian BBQ.

Was tough going for sure but punched out 10km very slowly and enjoyed the serenity....
Enjoy the pump track? Only recently developed again.

Mountain biking in the 80s. It's like as if road bikers had never heard of mountain biking and are slowly developing mountain bikes all over again in their own little world.
complete with 40mm forks!

I was 7 when the 80s finished, let me enjoy my dropped bars on steel frames with 38s please ;)

Bolted the 203 Hope V2 rotors to the front and rear today. I swear they must be made of depleted uranium as my bike now feels very heavy. Stops quickly, weighs lots...

Started building an old 06 commencal supreme dh for wifey. I offered her the built glory I have but no way she's riding a giant apparently. Since I can't argue the point, I guess I'll have to just build another bike.

So far I have:
06 commencal supreme dh
Zocchi Roco air rear shock
32mm boxxer coil
Stan's flow on hope pro2 Evo
Zee 10sp
Slx brakes

I like the little details on the beast. Polished alloy linkages are purty, ability to change head angle is a novelty, skinny tubes actually look great on it and match the 32 boxxers nicely. Non dh rear axle and BB suit the parts I have lying around nicely too.

I rode the Wild Mersey trails with a couple of fellas from work.
Haven't been on the bike for about 3 weeks so it sure felt good.
Very light rain made the tracks grippy and dust free.
I had a small stack on the last lap, nothing too serious, but a little sore.
Old mate on the hard-tail had an epic off-trail excursion complete with OTB into the bush.

We tried not to laugh for too long... honest...

Chucked some wheels on. I've got everything I need to do a geared setup with spare parts but tempted to try singlespeeding it. Guessing all I need for that is a cog, hub spacer kit, tensioner and chain? Sounds pretty err, simple?

Anything I should avoid or pitfalls with a non horizontal dropout frame?

Shed got a little tidy up. Too many bikes stored in one place (3 other bikes not pictured chilling in the background)

@PJO

They're not bad.
The XC stuff is mint.

No Mersey, High Voltage & Laughing Gear (descenders) are definitely getting a bit worn but still fun & fast.

@Lazmo - I tried your BOM radar trick this morning - thought the clouds were moving east to west - were actually moving south to north - I got drowned.
Ha ha.., yes they were south to north for sure.

Truth for me, I was only ever a few minutes from the car, and when started to threaten, I bailed.

That’s it. Nothing special. Did a similar conversion on a Gary Fisher years ago. I had a habit of snapping chains (mostly 9 speed at the time) until I got a single speed one.

Some people use a half link chain and can jag the right tension without a tensioner but this limits your ability to change gearing - your next big call!

Never dropped a chain as you can get a dead straight chain line with deep non shifting teeth.

I’m totally jealous - biggest regret selling that old GF SS.

Had the same thoughts with the half link but read some horror stories of those S shaped links popping out at the wrong time. I didn't want to go there.

In the end, I went with a 1/8" SS chain and a Yess chain tensioner.
