Well I guess another pow day will be acceptable.
There has been a lot of hype about this "freak" season on the socials etc. But this is how I remember most seasons being. I think it is just that a few years of lock downs/outs and 2 bad seasons has probably distorted people's perspectives. I looked up some stats going back to 2012/13 (the first time I visited myoko and nozawa) season on a japanese website I use. January in myoko had almost 1m less snow than that year and a similar amount to most others. February is traditionally the snowiest month...so we shall see how this plays out.
Until then...stay off the pow jerry! If you have to side board, build your skills on the groomers!

The Otways are pretty noice...the unmarked track down to these falls has been abandoned many years ago by Parks Vic, so it was a bit of a bush bash, climbing over and under tree fell along an old mining route, note the old rail in the bottom right corner...pretty cool spot.
Even found some of these guys... Otway Black Snail, carnivorous and endemic to only a few areas in the Otways.

But the exciting part of today was I saw a tanuki! Crazy beast was just walking down the street like nobody should give a shit.

Arrived at Shiga. Absolute blizzard! Heavy snow and crazy wind. No lifts open. Stuck at bus terminal waiting for hotel pick up. Usually catch a gondola from here to hotel and get straight out on the snow.
Sadly 2nd day off snow since 5 Jan. At least this time it is the weather's fault not my own act of stupidity.
