...also if you're a thirsty guy who prefers a water bottle YT have a custom 600mL Thirstmaster bottle that fits really well in that space.
Pinon CNC won't work, you need a slightly wider Q factor to clear the SmartShit™.That's pretty cool to know. Not sure I'll swap it up there yet, have to ponder how to secure the battery (and the feckin' bundle of wiring) in there without it moving or rattling around.
Sounds sweet, I'll PM ya.
Yeah, they have a bit of a commuter-spec vibe to them. I do have some of the Pinion CNC and ones from wkkie, but they don't have a magnet for the SmartShift setup. At least with this things getting popular in the DH scene there is a few cool upgrade options coming onto the market now.
Sorry, yes. I was thinking of the gearbox bashy.I was talking about the bash guard to protect the belt / front chainring.
I do have a printed gearbox plate bash plate I can send you if you like @beeb .
It was @wkkie s green one we took for a spin at the Youis on a winters evening ride. I also immediately didn’t gel with the grip shift but I’ve had a busted wrist which is less flexible that it should be.Haha, I was actually tempted - it was a cool pattern. But I was so familiar with it, I kept feeling like I was storing your frame at my house - so I had to put my own twist on it!
Definitely thinking about installing a bash gaurd as I internally routed the shifter wire through the frame and the little loop that pops out at the gearbox end looks vulnerable. Might need to knock up something custom though to wrap around the side of the frame on that side though. Hopefully before I end up forgetting and end up ripping it to shreds...
Defo welcome to take it for a spin. I was laughing the other day actually. I always thought it was your bike I test-rode at Youies all those years ago. Except in my mind I'm pretty sure it was the Spearmint colour. I mentioned it to @fjohn860 after I'd bought the frame off you, and he was like "Yeah, I thought the one you rode was that minty colour too!". So to whoever loaned me a Spearmint-coloured Katipo for a spin, thanks! My memory of people may be shit, but my memory of the experience was not!
[Edit] And yep - there will be more pictures once I actually get it completed and out to a hill.
Thanks to @fjohn860 for the ZRAMs inspiration.
Perhaps but I dont see it, not being made from the finest aged cheddar a more desirable trait to me.Yeah, they have a bit of a commuter-spec vibe to them.
Erm, I did install them while I was waiting for the crank retaining caps to arrive and they went round and round and didn't hit anything. I was also waiting on the drive cog retaining nut so I never actually put the belt on and tried it under load, but I did go for a bounce around the yard to get a feel for the sizing of the bike and turned those cranks over a few times while building and yeah, all good.Pinon CNC won't work, you need a slightly wider Q factor to clear the SmartShit™.
I got the little battery capsule and plate with the kit, and is 90% what I'll end up using. Anti rattle looks good. Anything preventing it slipping down the downtube, or it's just wedged nice'n'tight? Zerode did mention something about the early frames (ie: mine) being an early frame and not having some hole that the factory SmartShift compatible frames do. I didn't press them on what that actually referred to as I just blindly assumed I could wing it to success. While it's not listed on the Zerode site as something you can purchase the factory solution for the battery from them is an extension from the bottle mounts similar to a Wolf Tooth B-Rad and a little battery enclosure that slots over it, if you're looking for a simple solution maybe they would sell you one. I personally found that it made cable routes suboptimal so ended up going with the internal battery placement, here is my rattle suppression device.

Yeah, that was what I meant by commuter spec - ie: not made for hucking off stuff and being wumped into rocks. lol at the typography mod too.Perhaps but I dont see it, not being made from the finest aged cheddar a more desirable trait to me.

How many Katipos have you had @wkkie? My recollection was a sunny morning on a mint coloured frame. My brain hurts now, lol.It was @wkkie s green one we took for a spin at the Youis on a winters evening ride. I also immediately didn’t gel with the grip shift but I’ve had a busted wrist which is less flexible that it should be.
Looks wikkid. Would dearly love a proper run on it myself. I seriously gave this frame some thought myself but my infatuation with the Madonna hadn’t abated as yet.
Interesting, I have a set of the Pinon fatbike CNC cranks which are a bit wider again but was told from a few sources that they wouldn't clear at the pinch-bolt area... didn't physically try to fit them though. NS Billet provide and set of offset crank bolts specifically to account for this so #nofuckingeyeddeer.Erm, I did install them while I was waiting for the crank retaining caps to arrive and they went round and round and didn't hit anything. Tightly wedged yes but also tied a bit of brickies line to it as a recovery aid if it all went tits up.Anything preventing it slipping down the downtube, or it's just wedged nice'n'tight?
Actually come to think of it I think it was this frame. Don’t remember him having a minty green frame. Just green baubles dripping off it in true @wkkie style.
Oh, right sorrye-Shift.Legs are the same feeble sticks I've always run.
Now come on, it's now and Ebike, there's no getting around it.e-Shift.Legs are the same feeble sticks I've always run.
If you anodized those legs green, they might go faster.e-Shift.Legs are the same feeble sticks I've always run.
