Big news for Aussie racing fans, as Sam Hill put together the perfect weekend with wins in both qualifying and the finals and jumped straight into the lead in the World Cup overall standing. Steve Peat took 2nd and his 50th ever World Cup podium appearance while perhaps the biggest breakout ride of the season so far came from Aaron Gwin who grabbed third in only his second World Cup season.

Chris Kovarik produced his best result of the season on a track that's traditionally suited him with a solid 6th while Mick Hannah came in 9th to keep himself right at the pointy end of the title race.

In the Women's race Sabrina Jonnier continued her dominance of the 2009 season with a 3.79 second win over Emmeline Ragot with Tracy Moseley in third. French women took 4 of the top 5 spots which is, frankly, ludicrous.

What happened to Minnaar? Unusual to see him off the podium.

Did Blenkinsop have a crash? I expected him to be on the podium after the qualifications.

Awesome to see Aaron Gwin crack his first podium, hopefully a sign of things to come.

Sam Hill is a machine! Hopefully he can hang on to the lead for the rest of the season.

Where was the link on the front page for the Rotorburn coverage of the race?

You know, with the Freecaster embed and the links to the UCI site and Farkin chat.

I couldn't find it, have we stopped doing it for some reason? It was a good place to go to watch the action and talk shit to other Farkin World Cup devotees.

Massive result for Gwin too, he really is showing the rest of the US pro's how its done!

Scott is as sick as a dog and he doesn't like it when the rest of us touch his stuff.

He still managed to qualify and still put down a world cup standard run.. Fairly damn good for the old man.

The amount of Aussie's that attended the race is huge!

No Palmer in top ten!
Would have been like Rocky on bicycles! Alas not to be.

All the same, take 10 years off then qualify for an elite mens DH final with a few weeks of practice...pretty good effort.

Palmer's interview with Warner after seeding was classic style...
Warner: 'First race in about 10 years?'
Palmer: 'Yeah first one since Sweden [Are,1999]...Sweden didn't work out good. Drank schnaaapps and crashed, lost my sponsuh!'

Pretty awesome vid of the weekend from the Freecaster team here (bout 16min including some spectacular slow mo):
http://freecaster.tv/mtb/1008726/freecasters-dhi-highlights-from-mont-sainte-anne-inc-minnaars-crash
(P.S. by 'awesome' I mean 'awesome ... minus Rob Warner's ranting commentry style')

Interviews at the end are the normal routine, with Peat & Hill each talkin about how shit their run was... "Nothing special", "Could've done better", "Felt really slow & bogged down". God forbid one of them should be visibly happy with their performance...
