NSW FOUND: Shimano freehub body

Extra Info: I just bought a dt swiss xmc1200 wheelset but the rear has a sram xd driver. I need shimano for now. They are non boost 12x142.

If the other wheel set is dt swiss 240 then it's a piece of cake to swap them over. Wheel off, cassette off, end cap off then off with the free hub.

The other wheelset is unfortunately not dt swiss of any kind. Does that imply that I need a dt swiss specific freehub?

Yeah the free hubs are specific to at least the brand and probably the hub. How the hub engages to the free hub is different, ratchet, pawl, 3 pawl, 4 pawl, 6 pawl etc so there are different internals. What your looking for is something like this https://www.bike24.com/p2201340.html
