    A Q for designers: is there any practical difference between actual and effective DPI when printing things.

    e.g. is there any reason not to use a larger 72dpi image, scaled down 4.166666666 times so that it is effectively 300dpi.

    as opposed to using a 300dpi image at 100%.

    I think DPI really comes into effect when wanting to view at "actual size". I'm assuming DPI will affect output size if you don't specify physical measurements.
