    Default Wheel building costs

Hey I'm weighing up some options for new wheels including getting a set built. Doing it myself is a bit beyond me just yet so I'm wondering if anyone can shed light onto how much your lbs charged to put a wheelset together. Including labour costs, and spokes if you happened to buy them too there.
Just to help me weigh up some cost options..

    Cheers

If you want a set of custom wheels built by your LBS, buy the hubs and rims you want, and let them supply spokes and nipples.
If you calculate the wrong spoke length, it'll cost you more.

Cant rightly remember, but I think I paid around the $300 mark for the build including spokes and nipples (32H rims and Hubs)

What hubs and rims do you have?

If you know what the ERD is and hub dimensions then you can easily calculate and buy the spokes yourself.

If you buy spokes and you're a nice bloke, I'll build them for $25/wheel. If you ride in lycra then $100/wheel.

Ballpark is around $150 for the labour, spoke price depends on how many you need and exactly what spokes you get, because they can range from $1 to over $5 each, and depending on build you could need between 56 & 72 of them.
Just ride the bloody thing and enjoy yourself!

    I build wheels...

    $25 - you'll go broke.

I decided to do something like that. The spokes and nipples i was supplied with weren't great, and it wasn't worth it in the end after the amount of time and screwing around I had to do - Never again. My choice of nipples and spokes, or I wouldn't do it.

A mate is seeking some dt 350 hubs and I'm looking at the discounted e13 trs+ rims online. Ballpark puts me forward 650ish for completed wheels.
Having said that I'm also eyeing off the hope pro4s on easton rims online which looks like a reasonable deal
