So a US Dr. catches the Ebola virus.
The US treat him on home soil.

Sounds like an end of the world movie plot doesn't it? Why would you introduce that virus to the western world?

He was brought in a special plane inside a quarantine unit and is now in some special research quarantine unit in a top spec hospital - so it shouldn't be the end of the world?

I also heard he's being treated with a brand new serum, but there was only one dose or something like that.

Nahh mate, it already ended a while back with SARS.
Or was that mad cow disease? Or avian flu? Or AIDS?

Seems these days that whatever Mother Nature comes up with to cull the human population a bit, we work out how to either cure it or slow it down.

You might want to give this one a bit more of a think:

Malaria
obesity
cancer
religion
neo-conservatism
coal
Rupert Murdoch
China
drone technology
climate change
reality TV
preference voting
the Taliban
plastic
etc. etc.

PINT of Stella. mate!

On a serious note however two people who came in contact with the dead bloke who flew into Lagos are showing symptoms.

Lagos has an estimated population of over 20 million people who live in less than sanitary conditions and who aren't exactly renowned for remaining calm and obeying the rules.

The potential loss of life could be catastrophic.

Malaria- treatable
obesity- lifestyle
cancer-many treatable, medicine has definitely slowed it down
religion-belief:man made
neo-conservatism- man made
coal- as in carbon pollution? Man made
Rupert Murdoch- man made
China- man made
drone technology- man made
climate change- arguably man made
reality TV- not worth comment
preference voting- man made
the Taliban-belief: man made
plastic-man made
etc. etc.

Think along the lines of Black Plague, scarlet fever etc, that wiped out percentages of the global population. AIDS has been the worst in recent times in places like Africa, but treatments are available and are effective.

Yup, if it breaks out in Nigeria you're going to see some serious action.

1 - man is not part of nature?

2- you're taking it more seriously than it was intended.

Nah, I got your intention.

Seriously, though, if you think about any highly contagious disease getting out in a third world country with poor hygiene practices and medical facilities, the potential for disaster is staggering.

Or spread it. To the USA.
Although if "they" were wiped out then the world would be a better place.

Seriously though, WTF with bringing someone infected with a bleed from everywhere kill everyone disease to a country without it to treat them?

Me thinks there might be a bit of 'testing' in the treatment of the guy just in case it gets to USA.

Saw the news tonight and having seen the movies now know that the zombie apocalypse will begin. It's only a matter of time before the monkey escapes and bites one of its handlers in the face.

WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!

Off to woolies to buy out all the tinned goods and disinfectant.
