Long story short - I currently ride a 2014 Giant Trance 27.5 0. It's not the bike for me. My riding is more XC oriented, but I don't want to go to a full XC rig - looking at something in the Trail category that's closer to the XC side than the AM / Enduro side.
This'll be my one MTB, so after a 'do it all' style bike. My version of 'do it all' is pretty damn tame though - I don't really get air, hit big drops etc...much of my riding is about survival I'm planning to keep this bike for a good amount of time, upgrading parts as necessary (or not really necessary!)
I had my heart set on the new 2016 Trek Fuel EX 9.8 29'er - but they're not going to be available here until at least the end of November. Enquired about the 2015 model on sale, but nothing available in my size (19.5") No idea why a bike released in July takes four months to be available...but there it is. I really don't want to wait that long. Besides wanting shiny new things, I just don't fit the Trance properly - it's a size too small for me, and I'm over it.
So I'm now looking at other options. My basic shopping list is:
So now I'm viewing this as an opportunity - what else is out there, possibly for a better price than a brand new model, that fits these criteria?
So far, these have caught my eye:
Scott Genius 910 - https://www.scott-sports.com/au/en/products/238256007/SCOTT-Genius-910-Bike/
Specialized Camber Expert Carbon Evo - http://www.specialized.com/au/en-au/bikes/mountain/camber/camber-expert-carbon-evo-29#specs
I've seen both on Bike Exchange in my size and budget, so hopefully with a cash sale could bargain locally too.
1x11 scares me a little, 'cause I don't really have the legs for it...but switching to a smaller chainring initially isn't such a big deal - I pretty much stay in the small chainring on the trail with my 2x10 setup anyway.
Any other ideas?

- Up to $6,000 budget
- 29-er duel sus
- Preferably carbon frame
- 120-130mm travel
- XC oriented geometry
- Available to buy in weeks, not months...
