Politicians make a lot of promises, hardly ever follow through and their agenda is not always transparent to the public.

I actually thought the same thing, our political system is a joke. No matter what PM they get they will never be happy, it reminds me of the back stabbers in the workplace licking dicks, balls and all.

Not at all. The rest of the world was laughing at Australia because of some of the garbage the Abbott government was coming out with. Australia, I reckon, would have been better off if it had happened much earlier.

A lot of politics is art of explaining policy to the people and negotiating. 2 things the Abbott government were either bad at or flat out refused to do. Still, when policy is shit from the get go then no amount of explaining or negotiating is going to help you.

Interesting times. Hopefully we are better off for it.

3 of the changes are due to one guy who seemed good on the outside to the public, but had some serious issues on the inside- ie Kevin Rudd .

The alternative would be, that even if you have a poorly functioning PM, you should leave them in place, just so the voters can have their way with them at an election.

That is the most clear example of cutting off your nose to spite your face there is, completely stupid to the nth degree. I'm pretty sure you either hated TA or Kevin Rudd, so what the hell are you complaining about?

Or is that the campaign line taken to the last election by a party, so bereft of actual policy, that the only thing they had to offer over the incumbent government was, better us than them? To me it's actually democracy at work. We had a leadership so out of touch with the electorate, or world for that matter, that someone decided enough was enough, and acted. The fact that it didn't require a coup, revolution or assassination, actually speaks volumes on the health of our political system. It is, however and indictment on the piss poor ability of our politicians.

Who is going to govern better. The leader who knows she/he has a full term to do what he/she thinks is the right thing for Australia or the leader who knows unless she/he is winning the short term polls by pacifying the majority he/she is going to get booted.

Turnbull was originally ousted by the party for his support of the carbon emissions scheme. Losing to the also ran candidate, Abbott.

Labor lost the following election, leaving Abbott as PM by default.

Turnbull's policies resonate pretty well with the voting public by and large, his biggest hurdle will be getting things past the hardliners and National Party hillbillies and implementing them.

As long as lessons were learnt from the Rudd/Gillard dog and pony show, and he swings the axe strategically, he has a excellent shot come election time.

I was referring to why would other countries laugh at our political system, a party throws its own leader out, when they should be trying to run a country. It's not just a one-off either.
