When you spend someone else's money....

I've spent the last 6 months listening to a very good mate whinge, whine and procrastinate over a new bike build.
A recent move interstate sees him living close to Stromlo, and He's keen ride Thredbo regularly during the biking season.
Being a label whore and pretty fond of spending cash.... it was always going to be something pretty smick.

He's away in Europe for a few weeks, so he's left it up to me to source all the parts and build his bike..... spending other people's money is FUN.

That will be a blast to ride.

Are you doing the build? If so, we need a detailed report.

Frameskin if it's turquoise, you can probably get away with something thinner if it's raw.

Mate has spec'd some particulars of the build. I tried to persuade him to go hope E4... amonst other Hope parts (Cranks etc) but his fetish for Ritchie Rudes SB6 and the Shimano won the battle.

Either way, I won the Fox 36 RC2 over Fit 4, DHX2 upgrade (but I'd have coiled the bastard) and the fact he bought a SB5.5c over an SB6c.

I should be a weapon build.....even if misses out on all the Hope goodness.

Jebus. I'm building a trail/enduro for a whiney mate too. But for more like $900 with dropper and full new SLX groupo...

He must need something else for that build...just sayin.

Hurts. Requires Money. And is nerdy.
Seeing as this is someone elses money, the "bike" really needs coke and a night with some hookers.

If your spendin someone elses cash, may as well do it properly

That spec list reads like a book of exotic short stories we found in my mate's mum's book case while in grave 6! Get to the pics already!!! I can't hold this in much longer...

What made you go the Saint bakes over normal XT on a trail bike?
I'd say it is the Thredbo days or this guy is an elephant.

The real question is what made you go Saint Brakes over Hopes :)
Baby oil. It is always the baby oil. The shimano bleed is just simple and effective. Yes hope is easy to, but the dot burns.

Exactly! If it's someone else's money Hopes every time (or at least not m820).
I love my hope brakes. But prefer baby oil...I mean shimano.

I didn't realise Tony Montana rode bikes!

He's Scottish.... so every cent has to be accounted for!

I'm keeping my "favour" for when I'm stuck for something

The only thing better than this would be spending someone else's money to build your own bike.

SURE.....it's for a "mate"
Is this like Ed Norton & Brad Pit in Fight Club??
Is this a smoke-screen to hide it from the missus?

It just so happens that its a medium frame.... which funnily enough is just the right size for me!:hat:
Wouldn't it be terrible if he decided mountain biking wasn't for him after a few rides, and decided the bike would be better off with somebody who'd get more use out of it?
