Which one? There have been so many...Maybe the best thread but best Minlak's post in the fuckwit thread is best of all time for me!
You really have to ask?Which one? There have been so many...
Oh shit! I forgot about that. I still have a soft spot for his time as a pyromancer. You really have to ask?
Went through this in the last 12 months and am still wading through the options / what's changed ... ended up "rejuvenating" my old ride for the time being (which is a veritable antique these days) while I decide on a new rig - good luck the choice is vast these days ...I haven't been riding for 10 years and looking to get myself a new all-mountain kind of bike.
I used to race downhill and XC, when there was only 26" wheels, Kona were big, Marzocchi were still alive, and the forum had a different name...
What have I missed? What are the good bike brands now?
You really have to ask?
Thanks for making the effort to link that post, I just wet my pants reading it again (no pun intended).Confessions from the fuckwits
Why not just unlace the front rim which I assume is symmetrical and put it on the rear. Then wack the asymmetric on the front. Ok you need new spokes, but the current spokes are a sunk cost anyway. You just need to find the right partner.Wow ! I don't mind a bit of hunting but have never got up to such antics (yet)
Converting a hardtail to a dually was always going to be complicated.been a couple of years away for me too and have come back as I was simply looking for some cheap parts to convert my partners old hardrock hardtail to a dually. Have been surprised to see the trading area pretty much empty which is disappointing.
What I thought was going to be a cheap and easy exercise has well and truly taken me down the rabbit hole with OD headtube's and pressfit this and that.
Don't even get me started on how impossible it is to find a tapered fork with 9mm drop outs for less than $500. Thanks to Moorey I've tracked down a NOS frame and fork for less than that.
I still run a 08 Stumpjumper frame (completely custom but with old spec parts) and stock 2015 Merida 140 7.9.
Looks like I have some catching up to do on the shenanigans that I have missed.
Is that even a thing?Converting a hardtail to a dually was always going to be complicated.
Is with a reciprocal saw.....Is that even a thing?
