Pub Trivia - AKA things that may be beyond the scope of Moorey’s knowledge

29% rings a bell. although I could be way out as there's a lot of fresh water in the world.

as for the bonus, I vaguely remember there being a heap of zinc mines

29% Not quite close enough. Not zinc either.

It is that time of the evening I suppose, so to wrap things up:
Porcupine Rim - Moab, Utah
Split Enz - Rotorua, NZ
Hero Trail - Bright, VIC
Air Ya Garn - Derby, TAS
Samurai Pizza Cat - Whistler Bike Park, Canadia
Ae Line - Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland (Part of the 7 Stanes network)

Questions are open to the floor - First in, best dressed and all that.

What is the purpose of the windmills that were built throughout the Netherlands (not talking about modern wind turbines)

Edit: I am looking for a use that is somewhat specific to the area, not uses common outside of the Netherlands like milling flour etc.
