Skewing the olive

I had to fit a new hose tonight too and this thread had me shitting myself.

I too skewed my olive big time but holds fluid perfectly. I can only assume that you just weren't wrenching hard enough to crush the olive against the hose. Fingers crossed both our hoses hold.
Definitely! Certainly went way past the 9nm this time!

Looks like the face at the bottom of the bore is not entirely machined flat. This is probably the cause.
Looks like it to me. I took the left off and the bore face looks the same and the olive is skewed too. But now I guess I got them aligned enough to get them both to seal. I'm happy.

Looks a lot like a manufacturing defect. I have never had a barb sit non square in the bore like that. The barbs are supposed to seal on their face and not their circumference.

Thank you. I know I can fuck things quite successfully in most things but after 5 olive kits if it was me I should surely be able to get it in straight.
