Went for a lap of my local trail and forgot how hard it was, with around 750mts of climbing in 22K’s certainly have to work for it, even on the boomer scooter. A pity there’s so much erosion, years ago I put in water bars etc to help some are still there others have pulled out and you can see the difference. Chest was playing up a bit towards the end so I had to up the assistance from tour to sport but that’s why I got it, I was thankful that I could do that as it’s not a trail you can take a shortcut on and go back to the car. All in all a great ride and it just cemented why I had to buy one, if not I would have spent the day on the couch.

This weekend I did the Relay Ride for Life with the Cradle Coast Mountain Bike Club.
It is held in conjunction with the Cancer Council's traditional Relay that is held just across the road from the Penguin MTB Park. We put a team together to cover the 20hrs of the relay and take a shift (or 3 in my case) to keep at least one bike circulating the just under 1km course.
With riding from home included for my 3 relay stints, the first was 12.9km from the 1pm kick off then 42.3km from 4:30pm to 9pm and the final session of 50km from 5am to 9am as I did a Monty lap at the end as my legs weren't totally done for a total of 100 laps and 105 total km.
If anyone would like to donate the Relay site is still open. ;)

A couple of years ago, I remember filling out a survey about what do do with the unused space under the Tonkin highway bridge in Perth which was being upgraded as part of a major infrastructure project. One of the options was a bike track, which I of course selected. The bridge has now been renamed and it's amazing to see the concept drawings actually come to life, the Hallion and I checked it out yesterday. I'm pretty sure he will be spending a bit of time there with his mates in the school holidays next week.

I seen that come up on Facebook a few weeks back. Looks great!
What is that beige looking surface made of? Is it concrete or clay with dirt glue mixed in? Looks super smooth.

Damn @ausdb !!! I love seeing these sort of under bridge parks, if only more authorities would get on board. It looks pretty good! Almost tempting to make the track west and check it out...but is that surface fucking gravel?

It's some sort of soil/clay with dirt glue mixed in. It seems really popular with all of the trail building companies over here but they are all pretty secretive about what their own special blend is. Other parts of the trails tracks are packed limestone, the back side of the table top on the right side track I'm on is packed limestone babies heads.

@pink poodle I'll post some pics of the new jump lines at Dianella that will make you more jealous. Concrete launcher/kicker things and dirt glued limestone tabletops with no pea gravel in sight.

So PVA glue and sand. Easy recipe.

I jumped on Three Chillies Design website who built it. They use PolyPave in their pump tracks apparently. Interested to know how it holds up, what it's like to repair and such.

I really like the look of it over hot mix and our club is looking to build a whole new pump track/skills area at the Penguin MTB park.
