What length/size is the rear mech? Short, med or long?

aah k i get it. so its just that the mm of movement by the derailleur per mm of cable pull is different for 9-10-11 sp. fair enough. thanks man!

bummer. is there any specific reason as to why it would not? I'm not too knowledgeable on the whole gears stuff. i know how to install, use and maintain them, but that's about the extent of it.

Basically i want to upgrade my rear mech to an x01 but i don't want to buy a new casset or shifter. my rear mech needs upgrading anyway as its quite old and had its fare share of crashes.

but the point is, i want to use the new xo1 Derailleur, but i don't want to have to replace my x0 9sp shifter. is it possible to work this combo? i love the design and concept behind the x01 and i have wondered for years why it has never been done before.
