State Downhill Championships 2007 Pacific Park
Update. Saturday June 23, 2007.
History: Pacific Park is a mainly a Motor X and trials motorbike riding area. Western Sydney Mountain Bike Club (WSMTB) began riding at Pacific Park in 2005 on the northern side of the entry road a trials motorbike only area of the park. One of the features of the park is the ability to change the track each race and so far we have used 9 different track combinations all starting and finishing in roughly the same area, but having many different features between.
Pacific Park closes each August to give the owners a rest, this year they have consented to give WSMTB the use of the southern side of the park entry while the motor X bikes are not in the area. The advantage of this is a vastly improved start area and huge finish area. The possible disadvantage is the track has to be built and will not be able to be used till the race weekend. Although this means virtually no local advantage.
In May 2007 a group of WSMTB riders constructed a technical track on the southern side of the park entry. I arranged a while ago for Ricky Boyer to look at the site and during the first week of June he looked at our work and suggested alternatives.
On Saturday June 2, 2007 Rick, Scott and Steve built another track which flows much better down the gully. I have attached a map made on June 23 of the track Video footage has been done of riders on the track but helmet cam has not been done yet. Rick estimates about one and a half too two minutes for the track.
Will continue to post updates as things move along. Remember no day licenses will be issued at the state championships, same as last year.
