1 x 12 on Shimano Freehub

...And as for the question of how they'd fit a 10T on their standard hub, they physically can't.
Maybe they will use the Capreo hub "standard".

Shimano have been making a 9-26t cassette for ages (probably more than decade) and I used a Capreo compatible disc hub that I had specially made on my daughter's bike for some time to get a lightweight 9-36 10 speed setup. There is, however, a bit of a design flaw in that they end of the cassette is not supported by any sort of bearing so mashing in the little cogs would result in rubbing on the axle.

A better approach would be to use a narrower freehub with lock-ring mounting like what Hope is doing.

Indeed, in the good ole days some CNC shops like TNT used to make a 10t "lockring" that you would use on a 7 speed hub to give you an 8 speed set-up by replacing the lock ring.
