10speed chain on 9speed rings

looking at going 10speed on my trail bike, it has 2x9 x9 now but its getting worn out. one thing im not sure about is if ill need new front chain rings as well? guessing yes?

as youre not changing from ring to ring, it is not as important as if running 2 rings up front. Not the best idea, but it would definitely work. Will probably just be slowly strecthing the chain out, but that will happen anyway with a 10sp ring

I ran XT, 9 speed cranks with triple rings and a 10 speed rear setup for a long time without any problems. It will work fine. I only switched to 10 speed rings once the others wore out.

no problems mate,

running a 10spd chain on a 9spd system will work perfectly (due to internal width of the chain)


9spd chain on a 10speed system is a totally different sorry................

Very good correlations there. exactly what i was thinking building my 1x10sp setup. Then I got a XX cassette. Smooth as..... well i'll leave that one up to you
