Haven't seen this pop up around here, and only vaguely recall hearing about this bike a while ago (Interbike maybe?). Looks interesting, and great pricing if true...

GT discreetly posted these videos on YouTube in January, thanks to Tim for the tip! Judging by the view counts (300 and 159 as of this post), they never told anyone despite being the only way you’re going to see these bikes…they’re not even on their website yet!

Above is the 2010 GT Sensor 9er 29er mountain bike with 120mm travel built on their Independent Drive suspension platform. The complete bike, when (if!) it comes to the U.S. will be just $2,299 for a SLX build, Fox fork and Mavic rims.

Another 5 inch travel 29er.
The market seems to be heading towards more trail oriented 29ers rather than XC.
Perhaps its just a reflection that most bike sales are to weekend warriors rather than XC racing types.

I dont like our chances of seeing this bike via the australian importer of gt, seems theres not alot of 29er interest at that camp and i think thats a bit of a shame.
