2011 Giant performance bikes

Wouldn't that expose the cable to chainslap? I agree the bend would be good to eliminate but I think it'd just create a different problem.
Ironhorse, for example, run the cable on the chainstay, and cover it with a piece of clear tubing. Or was that just Sam Hills bike?

My comment was from a purely aesthetic perspective. A global company like Giant surely can do better.

Also, as the suspension compresses, the cable bend would actually get worse .

I dont run the cable on my trance on the chainstay, but on the ouside of the seatstay and attatch it by cable ties at a point where it minimises the kink effect. Yes, not very pretty, but it smoothes out the cables kinks, and i have never had a problem with it.

Not if you run a full length cable through the inside of the chain stay - it's abit fidly but it's doable an it works great!

For some reason manufacturers avoid running the dérailleur cable on the chainstay. I have no idea why, but I prefer the cable along the chainstay as it reduces kinks and excess loops.

So, Trance X + CC Angleset = 67.5 Head angle. Nice.

Now I just need to work out what the difference is between the frames of the XTC Advanced SL (which probably won't end up here anyway...) and the XTC Composites. Oh and then just work out where to get one from...

...or the Anthem frameset that was in last years Cat', but they would not supply it for 'marketing reasons".....

Although the pedant in me picked up a couple of things:

# The "Preformance" cyclocross range
# Advertising all the Trances as running with Maxxis tyres but the product shots having Schwalbes on.

Not sure if all those bikes will hit Australia (it sort of looks like a massive one size fits all catalogue, which they might prune sections out of for different markets) but bloody impressive all the same.

Awesome find!

Half of my 2011 prediction coming true!

We all know a bike genre doesn't exist until Giant makes one, hence last year being the first year 29ers existed, and this year the first for 29er duallies. Thank goodness they've brought us the cyclocross bike, I somehow feel like that niche has needed filling for around 20 years!

I saw a copy of the Australian catalogue today. Looks like we are only getting the new lower end 'punter' model carbon XTC. The frame is apparently 250g heavier than the SL.:(

That's a real shame. Makes the new 899 Scott Scale the more attractive option, for me at least.

Compared to the leaked 2011 catalogue from that Russian site I'm seeing some different models/spec/colours.

Can't say im really much of a fan of the blue forks on the Anthem X Adv. SL:

Would just look so much better with white or black imo. Something about Foxes being blue is a odd too, Sid's ok sure, but i dont know the decals look a bit funny on these.

Edit: Ok so the Adv. SL0 looks the goods - as it should for 8k

While the new AdvSL and X1 look stellar, I'm getting so annoyed seeing so much incompatibility in the last 2 years and trying to decide on a new bike/frame. I had a look over the X1 specs - let's pick out what's incompatible from practically anything else:
- Tapered steerer tube
- QR15
- XT 10sp (ie, ramped chain)
- Press-fit/BB30 BBs...

This on top of the whole Shimano/SRAM incompatibility. Specialized have also just gone to a 12mm/142mm rear axle... geez guys, what's going on!? :(

I am a bit biased towards Giants. I note the new 2011 trance top tube is more flat like an anthem:

Have used the bottom of the range X3's for comparison as this is my price point:

(Lifes tough when your (not) on the big bucks $$$!:p)
