2014 Team Changes/Rumors

Gwin is still young though in comparison to many of the riders he still has the ability to come back. I don't know why he left trek after that season he was clearly working well it was an odd decision to want to change anything up drastically.
Can understand your points but for the last point, money can be a very big motivator especially for a sport like DH where careers are relatively short compared to other sports such as golf that are less physically demanding. Compared to sports that have a similar career span such as football, motorcross, etc the pay is a lot higher on average. So if someone offers you a significant increase in pay which is what is the general assumption that specialised did, its not hard to make the call to jump on board.

Once again a thread has turned to Gwin and Specialized. Don't get me wrong, I will admit i'm a bit of a specialized fanboy, but this should no longer be the most discussed topic... What about how Mick is going to dominate everyone in Cairns?

Anyone know whats happening to holly feniak?

She was cut out of the video they did without even mentions of her injury or int eh events she was at, they did a good job of avoiding her in shots too when she was either at a race or away with the team on trips.

They have just announced a bunch of other riders for other disciplines but nothing if they will be keeping her on.

It seems like they sort of just quietly dumped her after her missing the first season with injuries.

Shes clearly should be on a team though winning jnr worlds by over 8 seconds and placing high in the elite field with her time.

Is justin leov still racing btw? last I knew he was on trek.

He did a bit of Enduro last season, still with Trek. IIRC he is planning to do some more in 2014 but I think he is retired from WC level DH now. I read an interview where he is essentially looking at life beyond MTB and part of that involved learning a trade (becoming a builder if memory serves).

We should convince him to come to Australia and help get our government on board. NZ has it right over there, they have awesome funding and development.

2012 was Justin Leov's last year as a world cup DH racer.
That would explain the absence i have noticed. :)

Bit of old news now about the make up of the team but pinkbike's done a write up of the Kona WC team for this year with Connor and Andrew.

Calling it now.
Crimmins will be ontop of the juniors this year and next year. Considering what he has done to the Australian field. Qualifying 2nd fastest ahead of Troy at the national race on the weekend really showed he was up for it.

Gonna agree with you there, I reckon he'll have a really good few years ahead of him. What a cool team loaded with great Aussie talent.

Yeti to not have a factory team in the DH this year, focusing on the Enduro world series instead. That means that Cam Cole is off to another team to continue in DH (most likely commencal based off instagram photos) while Richie Rude is going to focus on EWS with Graves.

That's really unfortunate for Richie, although surely if he wanted to stay on the circuit, someone would've picked him up!?

Would assume so considering his results. Maybe this is where he wants to be though, just seems odd that you take someone who's clearly a big powerhouse into a discipline that favours people who are leaner/endurance focused. Then again Graves and Dan Atherton were both big boys back in their 4x days and they've both dropped a lot of it off to do well in enduro so who knows.

From a Yeti employee on MTBR "Richie chose to ride enduro. We gave him a few options and he liked the idea of focusing on enduro for several reasons, one of which being that it's more similar to the riding available around his home in Connecticut. As you all know, that guy is an absolute animal, and I for one cannot wait to see what he can do in an enduro race."
