I would love to do it, but Saturday is a big work day for me. I took a Saturday off for the Odyssey, but can't justify another one so soon after. Maybe next year I will do the 6hr instead of the odyssey.

Is it just me, but do the course maps for the solo and team events not make sense:

The way I read it is that the solo and teams competitors head through the berms on Marriners in opposite directions? Could make for some interesting riding.

Am I reading this right?
I'm not going to lie I found it a bit confusing as well - is there anywhere that simply lists the distance and elevation of both courses?

No, you're not reading it correctly. The solos ride a longer lap than the teams, and I think there's one trail junction where the two courses merge where they approach from opposite directions, but there are no parts that are ridden counter to each other.

You're right about the non-counter riding, but a simple overlay of the courses shown on the race website shows that solos will climb up the Marriners berms while the teams are descending them. There's pretty obviously a mistake with these maps and their descriptions. People are correctly reading incorrect data.

Compare the published maps (dated 2013) with the Strava segments for the 2013 races. There's more complexity to the solo course in the Marriners area than what is shown in the race website map.

Teams course, without race village straight:

I think this is the fourth year that they've run separated courses for solos and teams. It works well. No potential jousting moments either.

Accept for the time a certain team rider took a wrong turn and met us coming the wrong way on the first lap!!!

I must've missed that.

There is one spot where there is a big difference in speed. After the climb past the old car, the teams riders cross the road and rejoin the track on a fast left hander for the solo riders. I've had quite a few near misses there, but to be honest, it just adds to the fun on a long day on the bike.

I missed the race last year but will be back this year for some sweet Forrest flow.

Can anyone tell me if there is still camping at the race?

In response to some questioning, the good folks at Forrest have advised that the maps are an indication only, and that all riders are in fact going the same direction on any piece of trail. The Strava links posted previously are the correct courses.

you can ninja camp, especially along the transition area they use (assuming same as last year). I'd be going if it was on a sunday. then again, would be hard to do loops with all that beautiful single track calling out my name.
