the oven cleaner helps to bring it from dull raw metal to much closer to a polished, removing a heap of residual crap left on the metal by paint, treatment to the metal, oils etc. Its what you use to clean up older bike parts back to that nice origional shine

Tony! I must say when you told me you were going to do it, I thought it was a great idea. But now I see it, its even better than I pictured. Must take it for a spin... You will look faster now... :)

I've got a new helmet , goggles , jersey , shorts and shoes. Possibly looking faster , probably the same speed though. Might as well look good. :)

looks awesome, man, a vast improvement. I'm stripping my bike at the moment.... tedious job, what.

Stabbsy, NEVER use oven cleaner on aluminium... it eats into the metal and will degrade it.... I've seen people use it to get anodizing off, but it *always* eats into the Al, and you end up with pitted and damaged metal. this might be ok for solid parts, if you're watching it like a hawk, but tubing is no go - especially with modern butted and drawn tubes.

The only 100% safe way to strip Al is with a dedicated stripping chemical like an aircraft paint stripper - they are designed not to eat alloy. Most methylene dichloride based paint strippers are ok (apart from being super toxic), but check the warnings first and watch it carefully.

Beautiful! Absolutely stunning.

I'm seriously considering giving my 08 Demo the polished treatment after seeing that. It's paint has seen better days...

Man you guys are quick ! Thanks for the replies :)

The one thing I don't like about this bike is the boring colour of the frame. I bought it used though , so didn't have a choice there , it was too good to pass up. Owes me $5000 as is.

Bargain. :)

Action pic thanks to one of Hux's crew.

If I'm not mistaken that looks like Rob Eva in the background of that photo watching on.....Also nice bike man!!!!!

Yep , cable guides got the boot. Weird that they put them on a DH frame in the first place. Pretty sure the new Evos dont have them.

Thanks for all the other comments guys. :)

Tony.
You would have had to have gotten some inspiration from me polishing Darcy's Goose!
At least you did a proper job of it, unlike Darcy's and mine over night attempt.
It's beautiful, after seeing Ken's I realized I only like oranges polished.
But I like yours even more than ken's, it's beautiful.
We need to go for a ride some time, I want to see that thing in person.
I've put that north shore stuff to good use, should have it finished in two weeks, 10 foot drop should be good :)

Anyway, Awesome bike Tony.
Talk to you later.

how do the hope brakes feel? thinking of getting some myself
Very nice. Good power and modulation , very consistent , don't fade much when hot , reliable as and easy to bleed. I had a ride of some Formula The Ones and they are slightly better for modulation and power , not sure about fade , didn't get them hot. They are a bugger to get a good bleed though. Takes a few tricks and some patience. Buy Hope ! :)

Hello Jake :) I didn't realise Darcys frame was done in a night ! Good job considering.

10 foot drop hey ? I'll watch and take pics while you guys hit it. :) I don't do North Shore

One more pic of the drivetrain area.

beautiful bike. i remember always thinking that this orange devotion was for wankers until i got my 224 in a good deal. no dh bike pedals better, corners better or anything else. the only disadvantage i could find is rock gardens and the locking out under brakes. would love to ride an orange with a floater set up.
must make it the undisputed best bike ever
