24" kids mtb

Hi Gang, looking for advice regarding upgrade for my son going from a 20 inch mtb, comparing a polygon relic 24 with mechanical discs to a scott voltage jr 24 with mechanical discs. Anyone have experience with either of these? Would love higher end but budget a little tight

A friend's 8yo son has the relic and he has no trouble following her on green/blue natural trails.
You could always get the cheaper option and upgrade anything as it wears out?

@Labcanary my thoughts exactly. The relic i found is $120 which leaves me with enough to do a few upgrades. Not light for his age around 13.5kgs but he is determined and fit haha. And only 7!

We've got a 24" Relic in the shed. The wheels needed to be actually rebuilt given how much they were flexing under The Lad...but I had a replacement set made up using Spank rims and Novatec hubs. That just left the fork...

The reality though is that it's a solid frame with sufficient components other than the QR wheels...

Thank you for the responses! Picked up this polygon relic for him for 120 in vgc yesterday which i think is pretty good! Bit heavy for a 7yo at 14kg, but might try and source a 26in air fork to jazz it up a bit, and swap the revo-shifts for quickfire :)
