29er build kit - what's around?

rangersac

Medically diagnosed OMS
Experience as follows:
Syntace are the shiz but $$.
Hope stems are mucho goodness
RF Next carbon bars and Atlas stem a good combo I've had in the past.
Thommo a solid option on the stem front, but not the most exciting aesthetic. Never used their bars.

frenchman

Eats cheese. Sells crack.
So... Renthal then :D. I like their push on grips. Might stay away from their stems.

Anyone run nukeproof stuff from crc? Horizon stem and bars look ok.
Got a Sam hill horizon stem. It creaks. Also have the horizon bars. I really like them even though they were bent in a bail, I’ll grab another set.
Had a Thomson that was silent but it would always rotate around the steerer. The giant branded one I had as a spare never made a sound.

Deity Copperhead stems are superb, Spank Split are very nice too. My Renthal Apex stem creaked also...

@frenchman - I have a Hope DH 50mm stem that I think was designed with you in mind. Dear god it's a solid f***ing stem!

Wants to be special but is too shy
There's some good deals on spank stuff at CRC. Might go that way for budget initially. Then I've got a baseline if I want to upgrade (side-grade?) later.

On the subject of cranks - I'll probably get some Shimano SLX. But... Am I missing something with my current (budget) Race Face Aeffect cranks I've been running? They've been solid as for 5 years. No preload ring, but use thin spacers. Heaps of 'cinch' chainring options.

Never had any issues with them. Just wondering if I'm missing out on cranking nirvana by considering the budget end of the crank-world.

Aeffect 137 - https://www.mtbdirect.com.au/race-face-aeffect-137-cinch-crank-arms
Aeffect R (newer?) - https://www.mtbdirect.com.au/race-face-aeffect-r-cinch-crank-arms
SLX - https://www.mtbdirect.com.au/shimano-slx-fc-m7100-1-1x12-speed-crank-arms
(bit cheaper for SLX at Pushys)

Edit: Anyone able to confirm boost or non-boost cranks for the Banshee Prime v3 as well? (eg. If looking at XT cranks, would it be better to have M8100 52mm chainline or M8120 55mm chainline?
