3 x 8 upgrade to 1 x 11 cues

Hi I have an older 3 x 8 shimano hyperglide hardtail. I hate the 3 x set and was considering swapping it out to the CUES 1 x 11. The whole group set seems relativley well priced.
Rear wheel is just quick release.
Square taper bottom brack in the bike currently so will swap that out to suit the cues 1 x cranks.
Has anyone did a similar swap out? If so did they run into any issues.
This is just a back up commuter / dog trailer / do any thing when need except actually go off road bike.
Any assisantce would be greatly appreciated.
 
I've done cues 9 speed and works a charm. The chainline is heaps better than before given the cogs are closer spaced together.

Not sure about chain life, I suspect 8s will be superior, but with the improved chainline and NW front, it might last longer, who knows.

Pretty straight forward and cheap upgrade imo.

Thanks Calvin. Only tthing I like about 3 x 8 is everything is so damn cheap. I am hoping it gives the old girl a new lease of life.

Have you looked at Microshift acolyte? 1x8 wide range and pretty affordable.
