They were $1k pre covid. Not sure if it's beause of covid, or because the John wick franchise used it in one of their scenes and then the price took off. I only know of them because someone mentioned it when I was working at alcoa (they made the original set).
When I first graduated I shared a flat with a mate who had a set made up from hand painted pewter or lead (?) war gaming miniatures. Was worth something stupid even back then. Hundreds of hours of work. I made him a board using red and white cedar. Was awful to use though.
