Some will survive and grow. But some will definately crash & burn.

Any bets on who?

AMB if it doesn't sort out it's subscription shitfight!

I can't believe that they haven't fixed this problem yet. It leads me to think that they've either got VERY sloppy work practices concerning basic operating procedures, or once they've got their money they couldn't give a shit about providing the service.

Either way, they wouldn't be seeing my money ever again.

Didn't they even fk up the whole Frieght Train DVD thing for their subscribers too..... Poor guys, very poor.

AMB is alright, i got nothing against it, but, it is starting to become less popular, I think AMB should have sections, focusing on individual riding styles, Such as:

Downhill/Freeride
Cross Country
4X/Dirt Jumping
Street/Trails

This way everyone can read a section of there favorite style, also with bike porn, there could be seperate sections, because i havn't seen a trial bike or a street bike win bike porn yet because simply big bikes own:p, So having these seperate sections could also make competition fair.

Also as HYOSHIMO said, There should be more focus on the young blood of mountain biking, I meen lets look at it, All the big riders that are being listed in AMB don't need any more credit to be recognised, I'm sure if the reader follows mountain biking they should already know whats what, However the Pro's should not be completly left out, The front section of the mag should be vacant for Pro's and other bits.

The Testing section of the mag is a great idea i think, because this can help people decide and learn on what parts to get and what not, This also goes for the Top 10 products of whatever, this gives people idea's of the good stuff these days.

The crew does come up with some interesting articles and keep you informed of the mountan biking world, And a small price of 8 or so bucks isn't too much for the time and effort they put into trying to make a mag that pleases the readers.

Some AMB issues are Killer, some are just plain crap, So i guess the more feedback AMB can get the more it can evolve into what we want it to be.

I only bought the last AMB because of the Red bull DVD (which sucked a pile of donkey d1cks anyway).

CLict and Revolution are definately the heavy weight champs in terms of our riding scene. Lots of personality in each issue and you can see the love for riding those guys have.

For those of you who missed the significance of Elvis facts supplied, here they are again:

it doesn't list actual numbers but it does rank the magazines. Prepare to be surprised.

1: Bicycling Australia
2: AMB
3: Triathlon & Multi sport
4: Ride Cycling Review
5: Mountain Bike Action
6: Australian Triathlete
7: Australian Cyclist

It goes all the way down to 28th and as I said, includes all mags sold in Australia. Be they, US, UK or local.

To be fair, Clict and (R)evolution haven't been published for a complete year yet so they don't figure at all. (neither does Freewheel)....
Or in other words:
1: Bicycling Australia Roadie
2: AMB Aussie MTB
3: Triathlon & Multi sport What is says!
4: Ride Cycling Review Roadie
5: Mountain Bike Action US MTB
6: Australian Triathlete Tri
7: Australian Cyclist Roadie, touring, general (not race driven)

Now you may claim that AMB doesn't represents "OUR" riding scene, when infact what you are saying is it doesn't represent "YOUR" riding scene.

Money talks and the proof is clear, AMB 1st for Aussie MTB mags, Daylight until 2nd place (I'm guessing it MBA). The only other MTB magazine that's listed there MTB Action has a same general coverage of the sport, to try and cover all aspects.

Look at the name of the mag: Australian Mountain Bike. not Australian Dirt Jump or Australian Urban.

DJ, DH, FR, Trials, Urban are all a small part of a bigger sport. Mountain Biking. IMHO as Australias #1 mag they have a tough gig to cover all aspects of the Australian MTBing scene, you want a specialist mag get it but I think it's a little rough to expect AMB to be just dedicated to your niche of the sport.

Lifestyle magazines? Pffft! If I want to know what to wear I'll just look on the floor.

end rant.

I imagine retailers who stay in business get in the habit of knowing how many units of a particular mag they are likely to sell. So I am only guessing but I would say they would be pretty similar.
Or I could be way off.

Just curious, Is that units sold to retailers or units the retailers have sold?
the ratings are based on actual sales. (ie: total number delivered to newsagents minus the amount returned)

Ever helpfull Elvis.

If you don't understand this and argue the point, you're an idiot!

Straight forward, to the point and logical. Wish I could write like that!

Why no Freewheel? It's been around for years?
Well done Matty on 20/20 I think that would be a tough market.

I wouldn't mind getting paid by AMB to write like that, cause thats what it sounded like.

20/20 deserves top spot, it's streets ahead of every other BMX magazine on the shelves. Mostly because it's full of actual articles, unlike the US mags which are full of 2-paragraph "snippets" designed to hold the microsecond long attention span of the average add-addled 13-year old bmx grom.

20/20 is a great magazine. it is well written, for the most part, gives a lot more handy news than AMB, has good photography, and focuses on riding as a whole. NOT just one aspect, or the 10 aussie pros, the whole bloody scene.

Im surprised that MBUK isnt in the top 20 list. Purely for the freebys that come with nearly every mag.

And idea where that rates?
