Anti dirt bike gates

Hey guys, been meaning to add this up for ages but if any of you have problems with dirt bikes tearing up your trails then have a look at what they do in Wales (UK). They seem to work pretty well and give the less fit riders in the group a chance to have a cheeky break:).

Good design, just fyi any decent dirtbike rider would be able to negotiate that, if they were really so inclined. But it gets the point across which is the main thing.

nothing aside an armed guard would stop any determined dirt biker but this would make them have second thoughts about it. Top design is a better design too as there are two stumps that are only wide enough to allow a MTBs rear wheel and mech through. Doubt a dirtbike wheel could fit without being lifted.

why not just a fence? and a sign saying that if you can lift your bike over it, you can ride in here?

A determined trail bike rider would still get through/over it if they really wanted to. Good to give a proper message though.

Another options is drops with no B line. Dirt bikers like to ride up singletrack as its more of a challenge. It would be hard to step up a big drop

Or fallen trees that you have to lift the bike over.....

Yeah, at a few points at the You Yangs, they have a pieces of treated pine laid horizontally about 1 foot above the ground, then another about a bike width after. I suspect they are more there to stop anybody riding through (MX or MTB), as they are at points where the track crosses another, and at the top of the pushup track.

Landmines.

Otherwise, a fence seems like a better option than gate-with not too much effot a dirtbike could probably get through. Although if a dirtbike is really determined, they will just ride around the fence/gate and cut back in. Not many places in australia have tight enough vegetation to prevent this.

Landmines sound like a good idea, but they need to be activated by sound. Anything above a certain decibel level gets blown up :D

and it would deal with the annoying so and sos who insist on riding with a getto blaster on their bike rather than headphone - just because you want to hear me coming - it doesn't mean i want to hear you!!!! (four plinks - the sanity must be fading and it's only monday arvo...)
