Atherton Tablelands

I haven't scrolled through the previous 35 pages, so apologies if this has been posted here before, but if anyone is road tripping to Atherton, the Atherton Woodlands Big 4 Caravan park is very MTB friendly.
They have a range of cabins and powered/unpowered sites, a good camp kitchen, pool and BBQ area and plenty of shade. Toilets and showers were clean and water hot, and they have a good onsite laundry. The Park is about 1.5kms out of town and about a 10 minute ride to the trail head. We stayed for the extended Australia Day long weekend and got a bunch of local discounts, 10% off at the pub plus free drink each, IGA discounts, host of tourist site discounts etc. The washbay shows they pay more than lip service to how much they value our patronage.

No Dags, should be. You know our end of the world relies on tourism so anything to spruik our region, I'll be doing it. Awesome long weekend of riding...Saturday morning was cool with a breeze, rode with a big crew Sunday, was a bit warmer and less breeze, rained Sunday night so the trails were amazing Monday, but it was like riding in Cairns, really steamy. Would have ridden Tuesday early too, but it bucketed down overnight and in the morning, so spent the morning packing up in the rain!!!

The entire town of Atherton is switching on to being MTB friendly!
In case you want further proof of how good the AFMTBP is, Tablelands Cycle Sports [The local MTB club that was the main driver behind the park: www.tablelandcyclesports.com ] was just awarded a Tablelands Regional Council Australia Day award for "Development of Commerce and Industry" against stiff competition from 5 other nominees.
Examples such as the Woodlands caravan park is evidence of the positive financial impact that park has had on the Town of Atherton. Along with the increase in visitor nights the local restaurants and cafes do a roaring trade on the weekends as well as the flow on to shops, hire businesses, tour companies etc.
Congratulations to the club members for the awesome hard work over many years

Yes Jeff, meant to say congrats - saw you had the honour of accepting the award...awesome. And I wasn't going to say anything about the rest of the town at the risk of sounding like a salesman! Thought that some fellow burners might appreciate the photos from the caravan park.
