Have you done a spyware search mate?

try doing a search on www.download.com for ad-aware, I find they are pretty good at scanning through the sh!te and picking up stuff that shouldn't be there

that popup's been plaguing me for the last month or so and i still haven't figured out how to get rid of it either...spybot search and destroy doesn't even find it ... but i found another spyware program call Xoftspy that identifies it, but it only ever seems to slow it down, and then a couple of days later it's back to it's old ways, so i have no idea how to stop it.

So if you find out what to do about it let me know...cause it's giving me the absolute shits at the moment aswell.

and the magic solution is: (if using IE, I haven't played much with Firefox yet)

- a decent (and regularly updated) antivirus program, such as Norton or VET
- Ad-Aware SE
- Spybot - Search and Destroy
- Javacools SpywareBlaster (a semi-sponsored/semi-addon for Spybot)
- the Google toolbar, with an inbuilt popup blocker (which can sometimes be TOO effective, but allows permissions to be set for individual sites)

these are available from Download.com, or just use Google.

- stop searching for downloadable retail games/movies - by the time you've found what you're looking for, you've downloaded enough crap to fill twice the hard drive space.
- ease up on the porn... (or just use P2P :p)

This process has served me well for quite a while now - even when other family members inadvertantly install some sort of commercial shite, or at work, when the manager's son jumps on the business email terminal and goes nuts with the Cartoon Network and WildTangent programs.

If you're still having problems, it's time to learn how to dig around in the registry...

Yep, I got it too, stupid fkn frog!

I'm wondering whether one could take legal action against Jamster?

I definately know I got mine from a porn site. As if this kind of stuff would make much more revenue anyway

Ad-aware and Spybot do nothing.

I've so got to get onto Mozilla!

Sorry mate, I've got up to date: Nortons, Zone Alarm Firewall, Ad-aware, Spybot and I run a router. It still got through.

And no, I will NOT ease up on the porn!

there's the problem... just the nature of the web-based porn industry I guess, piggybacking useless shite onto whatever it is you're downloading in order to hope for another quick buck.

Keep in mind the stereotypical pasty white trash internerd - or at least that's the 'demographic' the marketing people cling to - I imagine they do actually make some money from that popup.

as for a solution to that damn frog, I believe the Queenslander's approach regarding cane toads is most appropriate.

Now my only question is, wood driver or 9-iron?

Considering I get plauged by their fucking ad's on cable (digital) tv, normal tv, radio, the internet and everytime someones phone rings, I would say legal action is falling too short.

But seriously, I wonder if you could sue them, or shut them down. My life would be complete if I never saw another Jamster ad. Anyone know where they are based out of? Maybe an office?
Also on an unrelated topic does anyone know how much fertaliser I could fit in the back of a liteace van?

Has anyone got a sure fire way to get rid of this shit? Its in my system and is popping up atleast once a minute.

Tryed spybot, adaware, pccillin with all the mods........nothing seems to fix the damn thing?

Also, has anyone actually identified the file name in their registry or start up??? I want this thing gone!!!!

I got rid of it, seems to be gone now. I went into my windows/system32 and found a .exe file that had the same symbol as comes up next to Aurora when a new window opens (jamster ads) so i deleted that and i havent had it pop up for a couple of hours now.

Any one still having issues, have a read.

I'm about to do what it suggests and will let you know about my success.

Edit: All seems good now! I did the two steps it suggested.
i second that...it seems to have done the trick for me aswell

If you read that article that Dane posted the link to, it basically comes down to that if you download the files contained in the following two links, aurora should be gone for good.
