XC Aussie designed dually - my new beast

G'day Lads and Ladettes,

Just wanted to share my new XC weapon of choice. I chose this because it was designed and developed at the You Yangs, exactly where I plan to ride so I expect it will work very nicely there.

Have a look and let me know what you think.

Friend has a Terra 10 - loves it. They are capable bikes and clip along really well by all accounts. They work in Queensland, too.

It looks like a fantastic bike, good spec, good pivot placement, good looks.... I reckon you're on a winner there! Congrats to the design team, I think they have done a great job. Congrats to you too - the owner - for supporting your local industry and getting the apollo out there - Nice work!

Enjoy your ride mate, I'm sure she will serve you very well!

How is the rear shifting? The cable routing around the shock region looks like it belongs on a race track, does it create much friction through the shifter lever, I changed the routing on my old giant so that it ran down the down tube in full length outer and the resultant improvement it the lightness of the shifting pressure and the snappiness improved out of site.

Something you may what to consider is getting a longer seat post improve the overlap btw the post and seat tube and lessen the chance of having the post failing on you on a large seated bottom out from a drop

First ride impressions

Hi guys,
Had my first ride on the new beast today at Lysterfield. I was firstly very impressed by the handling
as I descended into Blair Witch from the carpark.
The steering was very predictable thanks mostly to the super stiff Easton wheels and uber sticky
Hutchinson tyres.
It was my first time on Hutchys and I must say they were excellent.
Another standout was braking through rougher sections of trail, it never stuttered and gave me a great
feeling of confidence.
I did expect the descending to be good given the suspension design, yet it exceeded my expectations.
Suprisingly it also climbed very well too, again exceeding my expectations.
My only gripe is the handlebars are a bit too wide, that's easy enough to fix though.
I am very happy with it and can't wait to get it to the You Yangs.

I would have no hesitation recommending this bike and am very happy with my decision

The best bit

I almost forgot the best thing about the bike- everyone at the carpark loved it! It was getting lots of looks even from guys riding bikes that would have been worth much more than mine.
You Yangs here we come!

Hey dude awesome bike I really dig! How did you know it was designed around/for the You Yangs? That's pretty much all I ride, I love the Kurrajong plantation out there.
Would love to hear a write up on the ride report out at the You Yangs, from how it climbs, how it descends and how it shreds single track.

Hi peachy,
I got that info from the designer himself. It'll have it's first Yangers experience tomoz so will let you know how she goes then.

Patience grasshopper

aaaaaaaaaaaaaand? ride report says?
I have several weather / family related excuses for not getting out last weekend but, I assure you that I will put her through hell at the Youies this weekend and give you a detailed ride report soon after.

Stay tuned

Wombat or Yangers

Thanks to a little white lie (don't tell anyone!) I'm swindling my way out of work early and will be doing either You Yangs or Wombat- my missus never needs to know!
Will let you all know how she goes...
Where should I go?

Ride update

After much deliberation I decided to go to Wombat on Wednesday and am glad I did- the loop is in magic condition and it was a great test for myself and the new beast. The bike performed awesomely again, but I really need to work on my own fitness, the hills at Wombat are only short but really put me in the hurt locker! Still haven't made it to the Yangers yet but will do very soon, I'm gonna step up the training and enter the Wombat 100 on the Terra. Went to lysterfield again today but half the tracks are closed due to controlled burns, it made it very difficult to do my usual loop but i did find some new trails I had never ridden that were sweet az!

Sold!

I was down in Tassie testing out the new beast on the sweet trails in Launceston (Highly recommended) when a bloke approached me to ask about my bike, he loved it so much he offered to buy it off me for $200 more than I paid for it (I didn't tell him what I got it for - I only stated the RRP)

Stoked with being the proud owner of an extra $200 I came back home but felt a little empty, so I got another one, even cheaper than the first one! This time I opted for the XL frame and it is working very nicely for me, it even looks a little less goofy as now the post isn't hanging out a mile.

Unfortunately due to an illness I'm carrying (seems like I've been sick forever) I will be in no condition to do the Wombat next weekend, so will now focus my energy on getting ready for the Chase the Sun series and the Yowie.
