Really depends on what the competition is. If its doing bear things then I reckon the bear would win. If it's riding a mountain bike then probably the mtber unless it's one of them circus bears. Really gonna need some more details to make an educated guess.

That fellow was extremely lucky. I wonder what brand, model, and size the knife was? Lucky the authorities killed the bear too! Hopefully there is a cull to remind then who is boss.

Just an unfortunate encounter for both. Sounds like the guy did his best to dissuade the bear to begin with, but when it’s chowing down on your leg and you’ve got a knife, your sense of self preservation is going to take over. Similar to that trail runner that strangled a mountain lion a while back.

I’m just glad to hear that the bike is ok.
