'Big Bag' High Profile Tyres

Newbie Question. I'm getting back into riding after a 10 year hiatus. I'm Looking at updating my kit. One thing I missed was the introduction of the high profile 'Big bag' tyres, like the 2.1 Maxxis Crossmark . I have a set of worn 2.1 Ignitors, which are the older smaller type.

I want to buy a new set of tyres, probably online. Is there an easy way to tell if the tyre is the newer high profile type? Am I missing something really obvious?

The manufacturers don't really specify if they are a bigger bag than normal. They will all just simply state a size eg 2.1.

It just seems that some are a bigger bag than others. The only real way to find out is through experience. I use Kenda Nevegals on the front, which are rated at 2.1, but when compared to some other of the same size, look like a bigger bag.

Maybe try posting in XC/Enduro section and use other peoples experience.

Great, thanks for the info.

Do most AM style, 2.1+ tyres have the 'Big bag' profile? Or is pretty different for each Brand/Model?

Cheers
