Just curious as to who is RIDING Aussie made/designed bikes and what're their thoughts on them?
I've had a search through RB and have been on the interweberous and have found the below that still have active websites but whether they're open for business still, is another kettle of fish.

Apollo

Baum
http://baumcycles.com

Bilt
http://biltbike.com

Craftworks

Deubel

Gellie

Descendence

Primate Frames

Kumo (roadies only)

Are there anymore that are still making frames/bikes and more importantly is anyone riding these bikes?

Apollo hasn't been made in Oz since China was a thing.

There's quite a few Oz custom builders...but it's typically a case of 'Made in Australia from imported ingredients'.

But are they still an Australian business? And what about Malvern Star?

Craftworks have never (I'm pretty sure) been made here, but the design and ownership is Australian. The same for Bilt. I've had dealings with both business and the experience has always been great. I currently don't have a bike from either.

Apollo and MS...one is owned by Sheppard's and the other is a brand in a holding company portfolio...can't remember which is which. Nor am I certain if either owner could be considered Australian...

Seems to be a few hipster ones that roast coffee or brew beer and make custom fixie frames.

There are quite a few frame builders in Oz but most seem to do road frames of XC frames that look like they've come straight from the late 90's.

Primate Frames look really nice, and starting prices seemed pretty reasonable for a custom.

I don't think he's building many frames at the moment. Seems to have found a market for custom coffee machines! Check out the one on his blog and you will see why.

Ps. This is pretty old info so I'm not sure of his current situation.

Just a general question. Would you be more inclined to buy some thing local?
How much more would you be willing to pay? Considering a premium steel hardtail from the East like a Niner ROS or a Canfield Nimble 9 is around $1200.

Most local builders only do full custom and their prices reflects that. So I guess I mean an 'off the shelf size'
