Brake levers wobbling up and down.

Adi

It's my birthday!
Hey all!

I got Avid Ad3 levers on my bike and the levers wobble up and down, I was wondering if there is a bolt that I can tighten to fix them up?

Thanks in advance

yeh, the little axle that the lever pivots on has a screw that u can tighten. well on most levers anyway.
just tighten that and it will stopp the play in the levers.
cheers

I wouldn't bother tightening em, you'll cause significant friction before you eliminate the play.

yeah, you should be able to just tighten them up. should be an allen key bolt up top and a nut underneath (just the one, poor fella).

if you find it keeps working itself loose, get some 'nylock' nuts instead. they've basically got a plastic insert that does a much better job of keeping it all together.

if in doubt ask your local bike shop, they'll know what you're on about.

oh yeah, don't overtighten - make sure your levers still move freely, in the direction they're supposed to...

friction is bad so u'll never completely get the wobble out of n e lever

some levers have spacers or even bearings in them, so you can crank up the torque without any friction or worry involved.

granted, this is only true of some levers, probably mostly hydros too.
you can get avids pretty good though.

in any case, get at em with the tools and see what happens.
